How to cheer up a friend after they failed their exams?

My friend failed her exams and she seemed really upset yesterday but I'm not exactly the empathetic kind so I didn't really know what to say other than remind her of her chance to do better in the resits and she seemed even more upset at that? :/ I'm meeting her for drinks & a movie tonight so what's something I can do or say to brighten her mood?

If she really failed, then the best thing you can actually do for her is to maybe find some study guides online or borrow some workbooks from someone so she's got extra material. A packet of chocolate or a hug isn't gonna fix that grade. It might be nice, but what will really make her day is when she passes her future exams because she studied extra hard.
If she's one of those people that think they've failed before they get the results back then I don't know what to say. Usually I just tell them to shut up til results are out but eh.

Ohhh. Well when my friends fail a major exam that's what I usually do, in any case. Or I'll bring some snacks and study with them. Failing is... not gonna say normal, but its definitely not insurmountable, and for sure its common in university. She'll be fine. You could prob give her hugs and stuff though, that might make her feel better?

I asked my friend. Just generically speaking. She says when she fails she buys chocolates and usually we go drinking, and then she goes home and cries a little.
But she did like the study packets I gave her so I don't know that might be a thing.

A gift maybe, it can be something she always wanted to get e. g. Perfume, shoes, bags and other many more girly stuff...
Anyhow, the movie and drinks will change her mind for sometime.
I don't think reminding her about the exam will help. If you do, then tell her that this was just a bad experience she will learn from it and score better then everyone.
I remember once I failed in economics I had the same feeling too, but then when I wrote the same exam again I scored an A which was very good and made me happier.

There are always second chances for a reason. Her whole life isn't going to spin off it's axis from exams. That's just not her strongest point and I'm sure she has other prowesses that can overshadow the exams.

It's apparent from your report that she never wanted to take these exams and only wanted them behind her, never to do over. Thus, she has no motivating goals that these exams would have satisfied.

Ergo, her best news possible, however black it is = now you know what you don't want to be (career) and can finally focus on what you DO want to be!

No, Schnapps is around 40 proof Alcohol.
Everclear is either 151 proof (75 percent alcohol) or 190 proof (95 percent alcohol.)
Several states ban the 190 proof but the 190 proof is about high an alcohol content you can get.

When my Dad was Stationed in Texas he was in a bar near the Mexican Border.
He was drinking Margaritas and had three in so many hours.
He found out after the fact that they didn't use tequila but 190 proof everclear.
He nearly got Alcohol Poisoning

Yeah I know how your friend fells I just got an 86 on my 3rd exam and I am so mad. Now to get an A as my final grade for this semester I have to get a 20/20 on my business plan project and at least a 18.5/20 on my 4th exam.
