How are people procreating in this economy?

In this economy the price of 1 dozen eggs is $8 and I go through them easily, I feed myself and occasionally my bf…I’m like this is the same salary my coworkers with 2-4 kids are living off of 🙃 it’s a nice salary but definitely hard to splurge with Tons of little ones. I’m aware of budgeting. I’m talking about going on vacations splurging etc. Makes me love my birth control more even with a 2 person income. I’m in the process of buying property and even that is a pain. My friends are paying 1800-2k plus for rent and in like that’s a whole mortgage.

I have no evidence but what I think is happening in this environment of declining real incomes and rising prices is totally natural and intuitive.

1.) People who are educated and can see where things are headed, maybe a little risk averse, and responsible, are either putting off having kids or deciding to forego having children altogether.

2.) Poor, uneducated people who don't know and don't care about basic economics are fucking like rabbits as always and then bailing on their parenting responsibilities as always.

So the procreating going on is not healthy and productive for society. We are breeding a generation with a high proportion of poor, ignorant, uneducated, unhealthy kids who come from homes with poor role models. Hmmm... who benefits from lots of poor, ignorant people with no power? Who loses?

I will not be having children right now at all. I’m actually going on vacation Thursday to get away a lot of my coworkers we’re not happy but it’s not my fault I decided to make choices that were productive to my lifestyle

They aren't which is why the birthrates are dangerously low. I've been advocating for a while now that to fix society a 40 hour work week of a single income should sustain a family with 2 children. When thats the case the non working partner can raise the family as thats a day job on its own.

What do they say on how they can afford it? Or is it a get pregnant, put the kids off to someone else to raise them / potentially screw them up so you can work 4 jobs to afford it situation?

I'm good at budgeting so I can afford my kids without much stressing about money

It's just human nature to reproduce.

The world can be falling apart and humans will still make time to reproduce kids that how deeply wired that is in humans.

I just bought a dozen extra large eggs and paid $3.99 CAD. So that's less then $3.00 USD.

I looked into it and apparently due to 100's of thousands of chickens dieing in the USA from Asian bird flu there is a supply issue in the USA causing price increases
