Should I not use this bait station?

I have a rat problem at my house. I bought a bait station without reading much about it, but I just read it, and it said animals poisoned by this poison could potentially poison whatever eats it. Why would anyone wanna risk this? How are they even legal. Should I just not use it?

If you use it, inform all the neighbors (maybe the rats visit their homes also and you need a concerted effort) and make sure that no cats or dogs have access to the rodenticide. Also you should often inspect the whole area for rat cadavers so that no birds of prey or pets feed on them. The second generation of anticoagulant rodenticides is even more poisonous than the first.
