Is this a trap?

so I’ve been friends with this guy for about two years and I’ve always dropped hints that I was here because I was interested in him. I complimented him all the time, I texted, I joined his lives on social media, but he always gave me really delayed responses and then I always seen him interacting with my other friends on social media (liking their post and commenting but never on mine). So I removed us as mutuals and I moved on.

Today I woke up to a message from him asking “where did I go? Like why did I remove myself?”

Mind you I did this two days ago so he had to have noticed me he just chose to ignore me.

Long story short he’s communicating now, he’s inviting me to hang out, he’s telling me he wants to listen to music (because he makes music) and it just seems so performative. What is this? What’s his goal? What’s his mindset?

You have more than one way to solve this
1. Be honest and tell him what you want and see what he has to say
2. Try the long way the same you used to do it for 2 years, it's gonna be different now since he knows he might lose you
3. Just move on

I did option number one and he responded with basically leaving a door open. He said he would let me know when he had time, because he wants to hang out with me. And I just double tapped the message. no response.

Since he's not making your issue a priority, it means he doesn't care the way you want him to be. I believe you should move on

Maybe he just liked your attention and when you left he actually missed it. But it doesn't mean he likes you. You should follow your first instinct and move on :)

No it’s not a trap It’s that perhaps you’re a back up. There’s other options and when those fail he wants you in the ball game. You’re not the first priority, but you’re good enough to be in his life but I don’t know if he wants your friendship one night stands or what he wants but he’s keeping you around

OK. This explains why he added me to his close friends, but he never really took the effort to react to me. So what do you suppose I do? I don’t wanna be one of many and I definitely don’t want to be settled for. I’ve already tried and it looks like everything I want is only showing up because I left. what do you think I should do to leave? Ignore him or just be honest.
