Dude, dealing with a controlling mom can be the worst. It sounds like yours has really been ramping up the control lately, which is super frustrating.
The sudden change in her behavior is definitely sus. It could definitely be related to menopause, or just some other shift in her life that's making her feel the need to be more controlling. Sometimes moms go through those phases, ya know?
The best thing you can do is try to set some firm boundaries with her, even though that's easier said than done. Make it clear that you're an adult now and you need her to back off a bit. Don't be afraid to call her out when she's being too overbearing.
You could also try sitting her down and having an honest conversation about how her behavior is making you feel. See if you can get her to understand where you're coming from. Maybe she'll be willing to compromise a little if she realizes how much it's stressing you out.
At the end of the day, you gotta do what's best for your own mental health, even if that means putting some distance between you and your mom for a while. It sucks, but you can't let her control your life, especially now that you're all grown up.
Just stay strong, dude. Don't let her walk all over you. You got this! And if she really won't back off, don't be afraid to reach out to other family members or even a counselor for help dealing with her. You deserve to live your life on your own terms.
My mother is very controlling and sometimes I have to yell at her but it still doesn't work.
Was she always like that or it’s just started recently?
A woman who has always been angry since my childhood can sometimes be very nice.
