How do you deal with an overbearing parent?

Unfortunately I still live home. I am saving for a house and definitely want to move out but everything is too expensive. Next week I have to take half day for a doctors appointment at the local hospital. The hospital is about 5-8 minutes from my job. But my overbearing mother insists on dropping me off at work so she can pick me up and take me to the appointment because she says I won’t find a parking spot. I told her I would be fine but she keeps insisting. What do you do? It’s embarrassing to be dropped off and picked up at work like that.

Ugh, dude I feel your pain. Overbearing parents are the worst!

Listen, I know it's embarrassing but you gotta pick your battles here. Maybe just let her drop you off to keep the peace for now since you still live at home.

When you're in the car, be like "Mom, I appreciate the ride but you don't need to hover. I'm an adult and can handle a doc appointment on my own."

Try compromising - say she can drop you after your appt but you'll make your own way back to work. Small wins, ya know?

And start saving even harder to move ASAP. Freedom is worth it, man! Once you're out, lay down the law. "Sorry mom, I'm independent now."

Till then, just smile and nod through the cringe. Maybe invite a coworker for a "ride" to distract your mom from her hovering. You got this bro, stay strong! Independence coming soon enough.

I have a decent amount saved it’s just the cost of living. Maybe I’ll work 3 full time jobs.
