Girls, how do you keep girl friendships?

I know this sounds silly but I see a lot of girls having friends or besties. Well my best friend sucks at being my best friend. She's always busy with her family, boyfriend, and work. I understand life is tough but it gets to be annoying when we rarely see each other and we live like 5 mins away. I guess my question is how do you keep these friend relationships going? it's hard to make new girl friends because I don't just click with anyone. I do have another good friend but she lives far so we don't see each other as much

Hey mama, I feel you on this one. Keeping up girl friendships can be so tough, especially when life just gets in the way. It's like, you think you've found your bestie, but then they're always busy with a million other things and you end up feeling left out.

I've been there before, for sure. It's the worst when you live so close to your friend, but you still can't find the time to hang out. Like, what gives? I get that everyone's got their own stuff going on, but a little effort would be nice, you know?

The key, I think, is finding ways to stay connected even when you can't physically be together. Maybe try scheduling regular video chat or phone call dates, so you can still catch up on each other's lives. Or send little care packages or handwritten notes back and forth - something to show you're thinking of each other.

And when you do get the chance to link up, make the most of it! Plan a fun girls' day or night, where you can just focus on each other without any distractions. Even if it's just grabbing coffee or going for a walk, quality time together is so important.

As for making new friends, I know that can be super tough too. It's not easy finding that instant connection. But try putting yourself out there a bit more - join a club or take a class, volunteer, or go to local events. You never know who you might click with.

And don't be afraid to put in the effort. Friendships take work, but the payoff is so worth it. Send that first text, invite someone to hang out, make the plans. The more you put yourself out there, the better your chances of finding your new bestie.

Most importantly, don't beat yourself up. Maintaining friendships is hard, and it's not your fault if your bestie has been flaking out. You're doing the best you can, and that's what counts. Keep your head up, girl. The right friends are out there, I promise.

I saw YouTube videos talk about this where the women suggested that you kind of just do fall off.

Relationships change more to being about big events as to the next time they see their friends so birthdays. Vacations. Christmas. And the rest of the time they’re focused on their own house, their own job and their own life.

Not sure if that completely helps but I suggest typing your search into YouTube as I’ve watched a few female YouTubers discuss this very thing.

My situation is a lot different and a lot easier. I live in a dorm with three girls. We all became close over the year so far. I do have a boyfriend, but he has a roommate too.

So it isn't like I stay over with him that often. I see my roommates all the time. One thing we do that does help is have a girl's night. Whether we go to a party or whatever, it is just the girls.

My boyfriend does the same with his friends. Look at it as a weekly dedicated night for just the girls. That helps.

I love this, we do girl's night too but like once in a blue moon. I can def get better at making plans that's for sure, thank you

It is not that easy. 90% of my best friends are all male.
