Would you prefer to live alone or in company? Why?

Every since I moved out I loved the idea of living alone
And in a lot of ways I still do


But more and more I find myself contemplating about the benefits of shared living spaces


The one thing I remain convinced of is that a home requires enough breathing room for the number of people


I grew up in a relatively small house with a big garden and 5 people lived there
It was insufferable at times
There was no way to have a break from each other


I would never do that again

Speaking purely for myself. I think there came a point where I prefer to continue living alone. There was a time where I felt being paired off would do me better. However after losing my parents and grand parents all about the same time and being single through it all, a change clicked in me.


I still enjoy the company of a woman … just not under my roof. I know of no other way to define it but a sense of them violating my space if to come to my home. Hell, there could be an entire psychology surrounding this sentiment. Whether or not that is the case, I just know, especially after my parents passed that chapter of wanting to share a hearth, home, and name with a woman also closed. Kind of like, “they had their chance … the ship has sailed.”


I cannot deny there exist an element in me that feels a sense of something being off by not having someone around anymore you feel a responsibility and obligation towards. Pets somehow do not fill that chasm.

I live with my daughter company, but she is all days at school, after meet his friends and her boyfriend, do homework or other stuff to school... so I live mostly alone... just food disappears from the fridge :D

I like living alone but I would like living with him too... both situations have their pros :D

I have mixed feelings about it. I like having my space to myself to do what I want, have my own sense of aesthetic and organization with no one to bother me 24/7.

But I also like companionship and want to be able to share experiences with someone, have someone to talk to and be basically intimate with.

I think the key is finding the balance between those.
