My best friend had blood cancer and even she didn't know about that, only her parents did. No one else except the adults close to her parents knew that, not even my parents not even me.

They discovered she had blood cancer when she was 8. Then one day after 5 years of our friendship suddenly she had a brain clotting and had low chances of survival. And few days later, in no time, she passed away and even her funeral was done without me knowing. After her death only my parents told me she had blood cancer. She was 16 when he passed away so she was fighting cancer for 8 years, even without knowing. Her parents never told her about this so she always feels like a normal child and telling an 8 year old that they have an incurable disease is not easy.

Less than a month ago her death, my grandfather died, suddenly even though doctor said he was about to recover. But he died the night they made that statment. I was mourning for my grandfather and then suddenly this happens.

Obviously I was upset, I was upset by everything. I was so emotionally damaged that I wrote a whole book blaming everything and myself and felt cursed. I felt like whoever I loved, they all suffered and I felt like a bad omen because everyone around me was suffering in a way and other.

If I knew that she had cancer then I could have mourned and I would have been relieved when she died because my perspective then would have been that she finally doesn't feel pain anymore. Her dying out of nowhere made me blame myself and it was a huge shock. A really huge one.

You have to say something. Loved ones may feel hurt and betrayed if they discover the truth later, feeling deprived of the chance to provide support.

I think it's selfish because it prevents the loved ones from undergoing their mourning phase normally. Instead it pushes them to face a brutal death.

Also, we have a technical problem, John. Or Elijah, it's unsure, anyways. Here is the problem:

I’m not someone of moral high grounds and all, if you want to live a certain way that only 100% affects you then by all means do what you feel is okay. I live this life my way, you live this life your way.

my grandfather passed away because of cancer... it was progressing fast... like weeks between first symptoms and his death... they told him it's pneumonia... I saw him last time shortly before Christmas, when I was 17... he passed a few days later...

I'm not sure if he knew... but if he did... it was a very lonely few weeks for him...

It is not wrong. As long as you aren't going to surprise them with financial problems. Otherwise, it's 100% fine. :)

It's wrong to hide from your immediate birth family & spouse. But not wrong if you don't feel like telling anyone else.

I mean, they're going to find out eventually. You might not be able to hide it forever.

Diagnosed with renal carcinoma few weeks back. Outlook is good but really didn’t want to tell family members. Hiding it won’t help though so I agree with that

I don't think it's wrong; maybe you don't want to be treated differently or don’t like the attention.
