Why do some people age badly while others age fine?

it's a question of lifestyle mainly, and a little bit of genetics too. there's a lot of behaviors out there that actually accelerate aging and then there's some that slow it down. most of the stuff that make it go faster are unhealthy behaviors and what slows it down are healthy behaviors. like someone who eats processed junk, never exercises, tans excessively, smokes, drinks, and neglects their skin is going to look a wholeeee lot older and uglier, than someone who eats healthy, works out, wears sunscreen and looks after their skin and is happy and stress free

Some people take care of thsemves others do not, eating well, doing sport, putting sunscreen, sleeping we'll, etc... Can be from genetic (high cheekbones and round fave look younger) or just because you take care of yourself. Some people look older while young becuase of their features but later on look the same / young becuase they took care of their looks.

Genetics maybe when I was 18 I had a school friend was already bald was one year older, he smoked a lot probably ate a lot of junk food too. I've been drinking since like 12 just drinking and I have really black hair , beard, mustache. But I eat at home, eat vegetables, fruits vitamins.

Most people have no discipline or ambition. But they can whine like champions. It takes making health and fitness a lifestyle over decades. Good genes are a great start but exercise (body and mind), a healthy diet, and staying away from drugs, alcohol, smoking, excessive sun exposure, etc. all play a role.

Sorta sucks for people who do take care of themselves too. Everyone around you changes while you stay the same. My doctor says I'm around early 40's biologically. 8 lbs heavier than when I graduated college 37 years ago. Resting heart rate 50. Blood pressure 120/80. Cholesterol 143. HDL 53, LDL 90. No wrinkles. Full head of hair, no thinning yet. I still lift weights, run, ski, backpack, mountain bike, swim, etc. So, muscle mass and strength haven't fallen off at all yet.

Sounds great right? But everyone I know stopped skiing 10-20 years ago. They're all getting hip replacements, LOL. They have heart problems and weight problems. They can't climb a set of stairs without wheezing. They've lost muscle mass. They've lost bone mass. They've lost their lust for life. So I've had to develop new friends who aren't half dead yet or do stuff on my own.

Hard living. That is too much alcohol, drugs, stress, smoking, being exposed to harsh environments, too much physical labour, to much unhealthy food, chemicals. You ever look at pics from the 20s, you got 20 year olds looking like they 40.

Several factor like diet, exercise, drinking habits. It would also depend if they have habits like smoking, drinking alcohol etc
