Why do some people look older than their age?

I know a guy in his mid 20s who looks like he’s in his 50s. He went to grad school but his program wasn’t super hard. I did not begin to age until I was around 35 years old. My cousin says I look like I’m 26.

Some people say diet, but I drink and smoke (actually vape now), and I still get carded at 40. I think the difference is that I get exercise. I think it could be genetics as well though. Diet does play a part, but I think that has more to do with sugar intake which I have nothing to do with. Smoking and drinking always take the blame... when I think there is just more factors involved than that.

Look at pot heads for instance... the old looking ones just lounge around... the hot ones at least go for hikes and will go the beach. I mean sometimes it's cool to lay around and watch the pick of destiny, but if that's literally all you do... you're going to look fucked.

This won't be a real answer because research is demanding.

However there are two core concepts when we discuss age, perhaps three. There is the chronological age, the simple amount of years we have lived. We then have the biological age, which is a measurement of how aged your body is. Biological age depends on chromosomes, living habits and more and is a slowly growing field of research that has shown some promise.
The bonus is mental age which rarely applies scientifically outside of mental conditions but still is useful to most of us. A young mind is after all a common denominator for people showing impressive longevity.

So the simple answer is that your chronological age and biological age is rarely the same. We age differently and a simple change in diet and exercise can revitalize you significantly. This is super interesting as a topic once you start looking into it. After all changing lifespan - the healthy lifespan - is one of the ultimate gamechangers of how we would approach the world and our time here.

Different factors such as genetics and lifestyle. Smoking ages you, too much strong alcohol ages you, over exposure to the sun, trauma in life, unhealthy foods, exposure to chemicals, having kids, vegan lifestyle being obese, cancer etc.

A girl I dated for a while years ago who is 10 years older than me still looks like she's 18, a girl that I dated when she was 15 and I was 25 ow at 30 looks like she's 50.

Emilia clarke is a good example. She had some serious health trauma way back and it aged her. Her health is always in question. I mean she still looks good but aged fast.

lolz I'd bet, I still looked like a child when I was your age. I got laid here and there in short term relationships, but I didn't really get much until I started banging 2 or 3 hookers every night until I was like 25 (from age 20/I moved to Japan where it was legal) and finally landed 2 girlfriends at the same time. Chicks didn't want shit to do with me because I looked like a little boy. lolz
