One must never ever hit (not even shove) their parents, true or false?

My parents are believers of that. Supposedly hitting or shoving a parent (mom or dad) is one of the greatest disrespectful thing you can do.

However, I believe in exceptions to the rule. What if it's a real, abusive and cruel parent coming towards you with a weapon or trying to choke you, I'm going to either hit them once or shove them hard if I can't get to the exit door. That's my life and safety right there.

Or imagine this extreme case: You find out your own father hurt or molested your child. This ''it's your own father'' goes out the window in that case. Obviously I would be protecting my child from anyone, including my parents.

True, never ever hit nor even shove a parent; they're so sacred
False, there are exceptions to every rule... they aren't untouchable
