Why does my husband want to be a stay at home dad?

Me, and my husband is expecting our first child, which I have two step kids but he wants to stay home and raise them while I work because I make more money than he does and he doesn’t believe in letting someone else raise your child. But I think the man should be the one to work if anything than the mother which I have asked my supervisor and since I’m a hybrid worker for the time of the kid growing up into the age for head start I can work home from remotely. Which I am very grateful for. But I guess you can say I’m old school and I believe men are lazy when there stay at home dads. But I need an outside perspective before I jump to anything.

there's nothing wrong with being a stay at home dad frankly I think the best fit for me would be a situation where I was a house husband frankly. Cooking, cleaning, chores etc. If they just sit around and use it as an excuse to be lazy that's different but if their putting the work and effort in than this is simply practical. You're making more than him and babysitters are expensive. Children need full time care to grow up well and socially developed and in this economy gender roles are stupid when you need to focus on what's practical because of how shit the economy is right now. As long as he does the job of a dad you're fussing too much about him being a dad full time. If anything, this is a good sign he's very invested in you and the baby and loves you both very much because he wants to focus so much time and attention on this.

Never have a non-parent raise your kid, and never sacrifice the better income.

Not necessarily lazy, but if you want someone to stay home for a while then I would understand for the person that would make less to do it. However I do feel like it would be a tiny bit better for the mother to do it just because of breast feeding and the bonding that it provides. It’s definitely a personal decision and it depends on your circumstances.
