If you were born in the 60's you may recall when:

I remember all that.
Plus, kids played with toy guns. They could wear a holster with dual Fanner 50 cap guns to the grocery store with their parents, point them at people and fire. Nobody freaked out. They often played along by clutching their chest and saying "Ya got me."
We ran around the neighborhood with realistic toy guns playing army. Not even cops batted an eye.
Some of the playground equipment in parks was large and, by today's standards would be considered deadly. But they taught kids to be daring, tough, resilient, and how to judge risk.
We built forts in vacant lots. We got dirty.
We drank water out of garden hoses.
We ran around unsupervised until dinner time and then went back out until the street lights came on.
We rode our bikes for miles, exploring all around.
We could earn money by collecting bottles in wagons and turning them back in to the grocery store, or by having paper routes.
People weren't paranoid woosies. They just watched out for each other.
You sound like one of the Little Rascals. 😯
For sure. 🤣 Except the Little Rascals were during the Great Depression era and I grew up in a clean suburb with wonderful amenities. But there were still farms, dairies, vacant lots, and natural places to explore.
Maybe the fact that our parents grew up during the Great Depression and survived WWII made them tough and less paranoid. So they gave us more freedom, the kind of freedom and self reliance they had when they were kids.
Since I'm only 23, born in 2001, unfortunately not. 😔
I was basically born into the era of infinite electronics and internet addiction.
It's probably even worse for the newest generation after mine, gen alpha and whatever will come after gen alpha.
At least in my generation when phones became a huge thing everyone my age had it was like when I was in 5th/6th grade when I was like 11/12.
Nowadays literal babies who are only like a few months old, or toddlers are given phones and tablets right away.
I was born in 1989, and I still remember of all of that. No one I grew up with played video game BS, wasted time watching TV or cheesy movies. Everyone I knew was well-educated, well-read, played musical instruments and could actually hold a stimulating conversation. I don't know what has happened since the year 2000 to now, but the world is presently SCREWED. People can't even talk anymore, as they rather send texts to each other.
@nikki1989You are spot on girl. Interpersonal relationships are going the way of dinosaurs - extinct!
A lot of that was normal even in the 90's and early 2000's.
I was born way after the '60s, but I’ve watched plenty of films and shows depicting the era! From fashion to music and culture, the '60s were quite a transformative decade. Movies like "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" provide a colorful snapshot of that time. Plus, the art scene was thriving with influential movements like Pop Art. 🎨✨
Liar! You weren't born! Not ever!
Hey Lily, have you taken any turgid cyber peen up your virtual snatch yet? Let us know if/when you do!

I remember all of it. It was a different world. We played outside mostly and made our own adventures. Probably most of the stuff I did I would not want my own kids to try. Myself and another kid found an old cement mixing tub at the dump. We carried it to a swamp and thought it would be cool to use it as a boat. We got a couple of long tree branches to use as poles and pushed off from the shore. We soon found out why this thing was at the dump. It had a crack in the bottom and water stared leaking in. We had no way to bail out the water so we started to sink. We had to swim back to shore. It was not far but the water was really slimy and the bottom was muddy. When we got out we were covered in mud and slime. My mother was not amused.
Even in the 2000s (2000-2009), I can recall kids going out trick-or-treatjng during Halloween and kids playing in their backyards (and the cul-de-sacs). Yes, we had video games, but there was a balance. I know this because I was a kid during that decade of time. I am a Zillennial.
If you ever notice, I post a lot on here reminiscing about the 2000s and when days were better. Shit, I remember when I had a PDA device (Palm Tungsten E2... ancient tech now) that could barely connect to the internet due to lack of wifi hotspots. The only smartphones were made for business/productivity purposes and flip phones were the common cell phones. I didn't even get my first cell phone until I was 12.
I played airsoft outdoors with my buddies and kickball. I was in Boy Scouts (when it was still BOY Scouts) and often went hiking, camping, and worked at camp during the summers.
These were days when there was cool tech, yet people still had organic interactions and met up often.
Woah cinema was expensive back then... 1.55 to 2.10 wage, meanwhile today you get what 11 something and cinema is 7.
Then again this is America. America still has its minimum wage at much lower somehow lol
US be expensive and this shows how even back then salary wasn't at good rates.
I was born in the 1980s and all of that was still a thing for my entire childhood/teen years. Except video games being absent (I've been gaming since I was a toddler. I also went outside though). Also replace furniture CRT TVs with non furniture CRT TVs.
My parents would never have heard the terms, "bottle of water", "play date", or"canned air". M. Ds recommended cigarettes and you could protect yourself from a nuclear attack by sitting under a wooden desk and putting your hands over your head
Notice back then there was no caller id on the phone. You could troll and no one really cared. Nowadays the cancel culture will shame you, block you, and ban you if you say something the slightest politically incorrect thing about @entertained_adult penis dysmorphia.
All of that and back to about 1952 or so. I watched Eisenhower and Kennedy inaugurated and Queen Elizabeth coronated. I saw all 3 Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns in theaters. I shook in fear during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I sat on the floor under my school desk during air-raid practice. I imagined hand to hand combat with Russian children with kitchen knives. I watched Twilight Zone on TV...
Well, I saw Queen Elizabeth's funeral. And now I'm watching Donald Trump deny all reality, cozy up to an evil Russian dictator, and start a global trade war... all while leading an insane troll cult that will soon end the world. If it were a Twilight Zone episode idea, it would have been rejected for being too unbelievable.
@supercutebutt So you saw one actually historic event. The rest is blather. Grow old and begin to see truth happen.
Yes this was my childhood and I did all of these things. I also remember you couldn't go to times square after dark and not getting mugged. Nostalgia paints a certain picture but the reality had some warts.
I was born in the 1950's, so I have certainly been there and done that!
Surely, I do remember the European version of this.
BUT! -
without any 'nostalgia'. ---> these were things that not longer matter much.
Anyhow - I pity the present young generation/s to not really have an alternative to what they do what they do.
I'm off soon enough... see you in hell :P
Everyone claims their childhood was better. In 20 years form now kids who grew up in the 2020s-2030s are going to say how these were the best times. Kids who grew up in the 2010s was the best. The 2000s. The 90s. The 80s. The list goes on.
Old men always talk about how back in their day how things were better. Not all old men but plenty.
I remember many of these things. Life was less stressful, and you knew who your neighbors were.
The feeling you call "stressful" could specifically be caused by information overload. Your subconscious still thinks about all the junk you see online even if you don't care about it. It isn't necessarily caused by too many neighbors or personal vehicles.
I remember that and I remember the floor model TV when our broke my parents put the new TV on top on that one 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Didn't some also have stereos and record players built in too?
Yes ma'am sure was
Most of those applied to children in the 80’s early 90’s too except the giant tvs, though they were chunky!
If you’re 26 that means you were born in 99… not 1960
And my guess is you remember most of this because I’m a year older than you and remember these things too
@Zack-Bann The past is not thrown away. You can see it on old TV shows and movies. Plus you have grandpa and grandma who always say "Back in my day... blah blah" They make you see that they actually had it worse than you in some things, and easier than you in others.
Yes I do remember how things were before internet, google and cellphones started becoming a norm.
I was born in 1965, and I do and grew up in the 70's and 80's and I turn 60 in June. 🩷
Yes I remember all of it. Those were the good days. We used to think we had a hard life back then. It was actually fun times when we knew how amuse ourselves
like I always say, I wish I grew up in these times instead of the 90'S
"These times" as in today, or "These times" as back in the 70s?
Oh good, I thought you were talking about the 1770s, by George.
I was born in the late 70’s so yes, the Good ol days
Ahhh... those were the days. I stayed in the creek that ran through Dellwood park and across our yard. Played baseball and football in that park. Watched little league baseball games there. 🥲
Sure do! It was a great life.
Didn’t have to lock your doors either.
Could actually repair your own cars too!
This is my version of that:
I found my cassette player in a museum. So I’m basically a walking fossil
I was not born then but the pics are great. Maybe it was a less complicated time.
Hell, I remember a time before TV. When TV came of age, they went off air at 10 PM or 11 pm. Saturday morning watching Andy's Gang and Howdy Doodie and a few others whose names I can no longer remember. Yes, I am a dirty old man, too LOL
Of course I remember that since I was born in the 60s , those were fun times
Aww man that was a stroll down memory lane. Although not American the same 70s 80s and 90s arsehollery was a thing of magic.
You're only 26 and you love going back to this lifestyle, that's great 😊
A large part of the examples were still common place well into the late 90’s.
I remember all of that except for the candy. I wasn't big on candy.
Yes! 🙂↕️ I remember the simpler things in life
Yes. That's the world I grew up in.
Yes, of course I remember, the good old times.
I remember hearing about this from my grandparents.
You are a cruel woman! 😭😭😭
Cruel to be kind.
Had all that in the 90s too lol
Very cool abd vintage.
they still sell sugar, daddy’s
do people not walk to school anymore?
Depends how far it is I guess. Quite a few take school busses. Or if daddy is rich, they have their own cars.
I grew up in the 80s and agree.
