Being friends with someone who bullied you?

We are in college now but the bullying happened in middle school. I don't think the friendship can last because all I can think about is what they did to me in middle school. Even if they have matured now, what they did waa brutal. Rallying people to throw things at me, calling me ugly, point out my insecurities, pimple face, saying everyone hates me, all for gits and shiggles.

She's a good friend now but I don't know the things she did would always linger in the back of my head.

I couldn't be friends with that person again for the simple reason I could never trust them again. I would always be on guard all the time. Too me all trust is gone 💯 which is needed to be friends with someone as far as I'm concerned. When I was in high school this girl spread a rumor that I was a slut. If she ever came to me apologized asking if we could be friends, I would accept her apology but I could never trust her as a friend.
