Why are parents loving assholes?

I remember thinking my parents were mean as hell and took everything away from me for failing grades, letting me fail or fall down when I was in difficult situations. Also my dad told me, “If you were happy all the time, then we’re not doing our job right.”
So parents want us to be miserable. Wow so parents want us to miserable? Wow parents you are the kindest but cruelest, meanest and nastiest people ever. My parents told the truth either you want to hear it or not. Even if it was painful, they told us to our face and even made us cry. My dad said, “Welcome to real like when people don’t care about your feelings. You can’t expect people to make you feel better all the time. People are mean. Get USED IT IT! Stop living in a fantasy world! I’m autistic and he mocks me for thinking everyone will be nice to be and very sweet or they will accommodate me because I’m autistic. What a mean ass dad and mom said figure it out and stop crying to me to do shut for you. Stop crying for is making you do things on your own and we won’t laugh at you.

Parents job is to prepare you for life. As a parent you shouldn’t be mean but you have to be realistic and prepare your child for what they’ll encounter in life and give them tools to handle it. Their job is also to make sure you’re safe and healthy and your dad is absolutely right that if you’re happy all the time they aren’t doing their job right. Kids would be happy if they were allowed to eat candy whenever they want all day every day but that would ruin their teeth and bodies. They would be happy if they could skip school and not do homework whenever they wanted, but that would destroy their future opportunities. Kids would be happy to not have to take vaccine shots, but that would put them and their lives at risk if they catch those diseases. Teens would be happy if they got to go out and drink and party all night every night with whoever theh want but clearly that would be unsafe (bad, evil people exist), bad for their bodies, put them at risk of alcoholism and get them in trouble with the law. You get the point. Part of parenting is saying no to your child and making them do things that are good for them and not do things that aren’t, even if they’re unhappy about it right now. It’s not about not wanting your kids to be happy, of course you want them happy, but you also want them safe, healthy and thriving. You seem to think your parents were horrible, maybe they were. That’s not parents in general though. There are bad parents. Some try/tried their best but just didn’t donit right anyway, some don’t care and some actually do want to cause harm to their kids. Some are so mentally ill they can’t help it. That’s not how it should be though. Your parents are supposed to be loving you, lifting you up, be people you can rely on and feel safe with.
