Im no longer a SAHM, but I was. It had its good and bad moments. The downside was always having barely any downtime, it felt like a 24/7 job rather than a “regular” job where you can clock in and clock out after set hours. It was utterly exhausting, especially when you mix in house maintenance and cooking ontop of that. Doing 3 different jobs all in the same day! However the upside balanced it out for me, which was the bonding time. It’s always nice to have the other parent home but sometimes you just want a day where it’s you and the kid/s doing activities 1 on 1. And for me especially, I always felt subconscious when singing or reading infront of my kids dad. So I liked it when he wasn’t home so that I could do those things without feeling silly.

I don't know how you do it. I have neighbors who asks me to watch their young kids occasionally while they need to go out to do something. Usually, if it's nice out I just let them play in the yard and keep an eye on them. It's usually only for a few hours and by the time the time is up I am completely stressed out! I mean it is CONSTANT having to watch everything they do so they don't get hurt. The boys are younger than the girls but they are little terrors! They girls are older and bigger than the boys and they are always fighting to compete with them! They have these electric cars they ride around in and the boys always want to drive them but the girls complain that they want to drive. Then the boys start trying to crash them into things with the girls sitting in the passenger seat! It is complete chaos and I am freaking out every second that somebody is going to get hurt if I blink! Their father is too much of a snowflake... they need more discipline! After a few hours of that I am suicidal!

It can be challenging and exhausting, but I love it. I am home with a 2 year old and 5 year old. When I first got pregnant, I studied child development and nutrition so that I could do my best job. I am lucky bc when my husband comes home from work, he pitches in and shares in all of it. I don't just take care of kids and the house though. I also serve on 2 boards of directors of community service organizations and sometimes cook for a private preschool. But whatever I do, outside of take care of the house and children, is arranged around the family schedule and needs. I'm so glad I have been there to witness and guide my Littles through the various developmental stages. It is fascinating and rewarding. And it is a work of love, both for my children and my husband, who knows for a certainty that his children are receiving the best possible care... from his wife and their mother.

It's pretty good. Like if you are hard working and organised, especially organised it can be very fulfilling. Like most of the household chores I do are done before 12 O'clock and I keep a clean tidy house and I cook a variety of good healthy meals. Walks in the park, yoga, meeting up with other mothers, gym, college classes. I've a good husband who's very supportive and really pulls his weight on providing and his chores.
