Am I a bad person for not going?

So my mom and sisters are mad at me because I can't go to Hawaii this Dec. Me and my husband are struggling.. we have two little girls and they are both are my priority... I'm trying to get a new car and we are also trying to move into another home. I just started a new job... so I'm trying to save as much as I can. My mother is angry at me and she said I'm not living my life. She can be very controlling.. I'm a 33 years old woman with two kids. I want to have fun but I can't afford Hawaii right now.

I don't think you're a bad person for wanting to take care of your family first. Your little girls and husband are your priority not going to Hawaii.

It’s just inconsiderate of your family to not take into account the economy and where you and your family are right now financially. If they really wanted you to come, there would be conversation about them covering the cost, not them telling you to “live” with imaginary funds.

No. You sound like a responsible adult. Your mother is wrong to pressure you. A week in Hawaii isn't worth it if you have to spend all next year recovering financially.
