Im back from a difficult trip with my partners mum as her behaviour was super intense and uncomfortable. So last night I told her that in Scotland people tend to eat earlier, but she complained that 6pm was too early and in Spain she doesn’t eat until 9/10pm. So we ended up just going back to rest at the hotel until about 8pm, and then I suggested a pizza place in town. Unfortunately, when we arrived around 9pm, they weren’t taking any more people. We tried the hotel restaurant, but it was closed too. On the way back walking to the car, out of the blue she raised her voice at me and got upset waving her hands everywhere. I explained again that in the north of Scotland a couple of times now and especially in in remote towns as restaurants close much earlier than in Spain, so it’s better to plan dinner earlier. We found a Chinese in the end and she just completely ignored me and acted funny. She’s also complained since she arrived in Scotland about the drinks being lukewarm compared to Spain, which hasn’t helped her mood. At times her behaviour has felt quite strange to me like at the safari park, when she wanted to pee outside while on the safari route even though the bathrooms were just up a small hill and there were lots of families with small kids.. I’ve been finding her quite difficult and just out of the blue with her behaviour considering I’ve only met her twice in Madrid and seemed fine with me. She also speaks very broken English and seems to get offended if I don’t know what she is saying.
she also had a huge loud argument with her son in the middle of a busy car park because she dropped ham all over the ground and tried to use them again to make sandwiches for lunch so my partner grabbed them from her and threw it into the sea nearby I was standing super uncomfortable and felt exhausted by her behaviour.

Wow, she sounds like a pain in the ass, lol. You might have to just go about your business as usual and she's gotta adapt to her surroundings. It isn't up to everyone else everywhere she goes to change to suit her.
I actually booked Spanish classes but now I’ve completely lost motivation to learn the language
I don't blame you. I wouldn't be travelling much with her after that.
Yeah I know I didn’t go to the classes tonight
How does your partner feel about all of this? You cope by talking to him
He just says Spanish can be expressive but I’m finding his family a bit too much for me
Play the game.
