Is knowing your racial, ethnic, religious, or cultural background sometimes not a good thing?

I don't personally care about those things so for me no but that's just me of course. Did you find out something horrific? I don't even know what that would be unless it's like a sibling you didn't know about or something.
Yeah I understand. I know a few people that found out they had siblings they didn't know about which is what I was referencing. It ruined the parents marriage but years later, the siblings became close.
While I think who one are is far more important that your ancestry, I can see why that might be troubling for some.

I feel neutral about it. Knowledge is just facts. Learning about your ancestors doesn't make you a different person. Finding out I was autistic didn't make me more autistic.
Ask Sunny Hostin of The View how she felt when she learned her ancestors were slave owners.
It's a good thing to know, but people who make it their whole identity are void of personality.
it can be a waste of time and money
I love to learn so I am happy to continue learning despite how negative it may possibly be.
Only if you're sensitive about it.
I suppose it can be in some circumstances
It isn't something I do. I don't care.
I think it is a good thing..
