I have hated celebrating my birthday since I was around 20 years old, but I recently saw something on social media that is making me think about it in a different light. It was a mother sharing the last birthday she had with her son, and now I find myself thinking about how my self hated affects her...

My son or any child… go through that stage… some become disconnected… most come back and become closer to their mom…

you went through that stage… maybe she is aware… moving forward… just be kind to her. Parents just want their kids to have a better life, healthy…

once you are married… love your wife, also care for your elderly mom…

birthday stuff is just one of many.

my mom always made soup… when I was younger, I told her to not make it…. Now I am so lucky that she is almost 80 and still makes me soup and my daughter loves her soup…

go spend some time with your mom… she will appreciate the quality time.

I think a mother would be more concerned with her child hating his birthday, not her 20+ year old son. It’s not up to your mom to make birthday parties and stuff happen anymore, so whether or not you do something with that day won’t break her heart. Whatever you do is your own choice as an adult.

I feel like that’s normal, your parents, family etc celebrating your birthday, making an effort. What I was mainly speaking on is how a mom is supposed to feel if her adult son chooses not to celebrate his birthday, and I don’t think she’d be affected as deeply as she may be if it were a child. As adults I think we learn that priorities change, and having birthday parties or big celebrations may not be your pace anymore and I don’t think that’s necessarily hurtful to parents.
