My family is all ok but I would not give large amounts of money to outsiders.
What we do now is if someone asks us for money we give them $1,000 with no strings or requirements that they pay it back. If they ask again we give them $100 and say we will not be able to give them any more money. It chases them away better than anything else.
The ones who were really our friends stay our friends and the ones who weren't disappear from our lives once they know there is no more money. If I got a billion dollars I might increase those amounts to $10,000 and $1,000 but that's about it.
The other thing we do is if we're invited to a wedding or other event where we suspect it is only for the gift (such as people we really don't know well enough to be invited to something like that), we have a $100 Steuben bowl we send them. They're usually expecting we'll pick something from their registry costing $1,000 or more.
One time the sister of a friend of mine asked me to buy a piece of land so she and her husband could build a house on it. I sent her $1,000 and didn't even receive a thank you. This is the extent people will try to use you. My friend was very apologetic but it wasn't at all her fault.
Why would you give money to friends sister you werent obligated and not your responsibility to give them any. Thats your lesson.
Out of respect for my friend. And I don't need any lessons.
Well you must be well off to send her spare cash. But really most people only call you when they need something from you especially if you have money you'll have many people nice to you. If you have no money people won't be giving you time to even talk to you.
Assuming I won a giant lottery or I inherited it (it might be different if you mean I spent 20 years launching some company that became huge or whatever) I would prob divide up a lot of it, maybe half of it, and give it out immediately and then in the future my plan would not be to continue giving people money though I would if they really needed it. I would rather do that right away so nobody is waiting wondering, and so everybody is taken care of, and then we all move on and maybe partially forget it came from me as they would be at least millionaires so they shouldn’t need much after that. For me it would be “easy come easy go” and that way it would all be done at one time mostly. JMO!
It's not like I'd let my sister and my fiancée's sister stop working though. If I can financially support it, I will help family. However, I won't help those who won't help themselves. I will stop working if I am extremely rich. Money holds no desire for me. I want to do what I want, and I only work because I need money to survive. I work to live.
I wouldn't have to.
My sister and I are both childless. She is doing better than me and rather well overall. She doesn't need my help.
___ I ___ need the help. So, I will take the money and run.

No. Being able to build your life and be an adult builds character and is absolutely necessary for being a happy and successful adult. Taking that away from them would be disservice to them. I would absolutely give them generous gifts and vacations and stuff, but supporting them financially would be harmful to them.
Support, no.
Help, yeah of course.
I don’t like lazy people who don’t even move their ass and just depend on other people.
I don't have siblings but if I did well it would depend how much I like them right?
I would probably setup a savings account for them that has enough money for them to live comfortably off the interest and tell them that is all you get, but you can do whatever you want with it.
wow. the people who are saying yes must have a nice family. lucky them!
i say no. f them. they already take money from me.
Sure, not like I’m gonna spend it all myself lol
How long does it take to dry you if you are a billionaire?
Well, a billion is a thousand millions. A million is a thousand 100 thousands. I honestly can’t think of how I would successfully dry out a thousand hundred thousands in my presumed 80-someodd life time, let alone another thousand of those. I don’t think it’s possible to actually spend that much money in such a short span of time.
