How many people do you think really suck at parenting; going to extremes of either too strict or very permissive?

How many people do you think really suck at parenting so badly? I'm referring to people that actually did wanted kids but are terrible at raising kids?

Some are too controlling and strict that it's suffocating and the kid grows up not trusting his mom or dad with any problems they have. In their minds, the parents thought being tough was the only way to raise a good person.

Others go towards the other extreme of acting more like the child's best friend, failing to establish clear boundaries nor rules; and even spoiling the kid all the time. They themselves got raised with very strict parents, grew up very unhappy and in their minds, thought giving the child all they ever want was a way to compensate for what they never had.

I believe that there's more parents that aren't good at parenting. Some parents had children to do all the chores and hard work around the house. I was shocked to find that out.

I'm now wondering if parenting is actually a skill not many people have. You can't be too much into tough love nor a doormat without rules. You just gotta be right in the middle but sadly only some people get it right.

I’m sure plenty. I’d consider my parents fairly balanced, luckily.

True.. everything in life have to be balanced. All extremes are bad.

Most parents either spoil or neglect their kids. Both equally destructive.

True. There are also parents that take "I'm your parent, not your friend obey me" role too far and emotionally suffocate the child.
