Am I a total loser?

Ok, this question is once more brought to you by my evil, middle sister who once more brought me to tears by saying , "You're a total loser who wouldn't have anything if it wasn't for dad and by the way, unicorns aren't real." (She always has to throw in the unicorn part. See how evil she is?) Now, while the part about my dad may be true, it doesn't mean I want to actually hear the truth and since none of my other friends or family want to hear me crying and whining about it, I come crying and whining to you all, my dearest possible friends, if we weren't total strangers on a social media site.

Ok, so, the real short story is after high school I went bravely out into the world to seek my fame and fortune and promptly fell on my face. I attempted 2 years of college during the covid craze which ended in total disaster for many reasons and so I came crawling home with my tail between my legs. Since it soon became painfully obvious I wasn't quite going to set the world on fire in the grand splendor I had so imagined , my dad gave me a little hunting camp and 2 acres of land that was already planned for me in their will but the family decided to give it to me early since no one else wanted me living with them and I was too old for them to ship me off to parochial school. (Their first choice) And so, here I am. Yes, I am a very, very, very lucky girl and I thank the universe (and my dad) everyday for the blessings I have. Now, I did promptly put my evil sister in her place by rubbing reality in her face with the cold, hard fact that SHE doesn't have 151 followers on G@G! So, there! Who's the loser now, witch!
But the part about the unicorns really, really hurt my feelings and so as I cry in my beer, feeling sorry for myself and seeking the sympathy I so deserve, I ask, Am I a total loser?

I have 2 sons age 28 and 34. People your age were hit with a double kick to the head. Covid + plus a tRump fucked economy that barely recovered before tRump was put back in power by the filth of this nation and promptly trashed the economy again.

My 28 year old son is brilliant and graduated with a Cum Laude degree in audio engineering. But he has struggled post graduation to get himself established. He has written and published over 600 beats he sells to rappers on his own website. And he records and mixes local artists in my house where he still lives. He also mixes for a handful of international artists in Mexico and Spain.

So I'm not willing to label you a loser just yet. The point is if the college thing didn't work out, find something else. College has become a dubious choice for a lot of people. It's no longer the default path to the American Dream. Nor is working retail or fast food. Find something you're good at. Build a career for yourself. Stick with it.

Tell your middle sister to stick her opinion up her ass.

you seem to have it all figured out and someone who has it all figured out isn't a loser... well, as long as you continue doing you. "failing isn't a sin" [mom], it's "not getting up after getting punched in the face" [dad]. good on you that you tried. now continue trying your very best. who knows, maybe hunting for your own survival will give you the extra motivation to learn and graduate whatever you started. or you start delivering to the local butcher regularly and sell those animal heads like in the cartoons. seems like a perfectly honorable and really cool job to me, assuming you grew up doing these things

Nah, you aren't a loser. COVID was a tough time for everyone and lots (LOTS) of people were set back. That even holds true today, post covid lock downs. Everyone needs a bit of help in their life and you, luckily, were able to rely on your father to help you out. Not all of us have that to fall back on.

You keep up with your bills, including the taxes, you keep your place clean I am assuming, and you contribute to society by being awesome in your own way. Totally not loser behavior.

Ps: Unicorns AND ghosts are real. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

Coming from a fellow loser, I'm sorry to say that you are. I'm 26 and live with my parents despite having an English degree. You're doing par for the course as far as our generation goes. Trouble is, our generation is made of a lot of losers.

However, your original vision of making it is flawed. The Boss babe route of trying to make big bucks works for a tiny number of women and still makes them depressed with the emptiness of a full bank account and lonely life, so that's not the only valid way to succeed in life. I think you've overlooked a path: mingle, date, and fall in love with a guy who makes okay money and makes your heart skip a beat.

Having a loving husband and wonderful children is generations past have ended up happy, and is plenty valid for you. But don't snooze on it. 1 in 3 couples struggle with infertility after age 30, so now is not the time to be picky. Don't chase some guy making six figures. Few exist, and they're always dating someone else. So date the guy who is making some slightly above average moneyin his community, because his income will increase over time anyway.

That's why you don't get along because you are who you hang with and you knew she was gonna change your life First thing is, you can't allow her to p*** you up. You can't allow her to do anything except for making you smile whether you want to smile or not. You have to smile. As if it just went right over your head, you never believed what a sister says to you, hell, if I did. With everything that my sister said that I've done and told my family what I've done, and she doesn't even know because she doesn't even know me. But all we have to do is say it, and they believe it even more. I don't see how people can be that way. But I used to start my own rumors just so it would get to her, so she would tell everybody. And then the truth would come out.

Sorry. I'm with your sister on the unicorns part. But are you a loser? Nah. You would've figured life out even without your dad giving you a handout. It just would've taken more time to get there. You're a smart girl. But getting handouts in life does tend to make us lazy. Nothing wrong with wanting to just enjoy life.
