Im not even sure you'd consider him a friend. Back in 2018 I would play gta 5 with my brother, and a few of his friends. One of their names her Rick. Rick was mostly fun to play with but he would rage a little bit. So fast forward to about an hour ago. I see a guy at the gas station who looked a lot like rick. I say "hey, are you rick?" He was like "yeah?". I said "im not sure if you remember me, but im Chris's brother (chris is my brother), and we used to play gta 5 back in the day. He was like "oh yeah! Its been ages since I played that" There were a few more words, then he got in his car, and was like be safe out there man!" My therapist told me to have more conversations with people, and thats what I was trying to do, but I feel like a complete weirdo, and keep cringing when I think about the conversation

Oh gosh, I can relate to this so much. I have lost contact with people I used to game with heavily just because I have social anxiety and feel like I am being a burden if I approach them. It's awesome that you took that step and I am sure your therapist will be thrilled to hear it as well. Even if it didn't lead to anything, it's still great that you made the attempt at being social. I am a bit envious tbh.
But to answer the question, no, I dont think it was weird and, if anything, was very brave to do.
It sounds like a perfectly nice interaction to allow him to reminisce. You’re worried over nothing
