My mother is gate keeping the number of a guy we met at a restaurant… he was very nice and attentive. I thought he was cute but thought nothing about it.. me and him did hold conversation and my mom asked him for his number and I was embarrassed because I felt that was pushing a boundary… I told him he didn't have to do that and there was a pause I don't know.. not in a rude way.. he did write his number down and my mom took it.. I didn’t think much of it. Days passed and I said I may just reach out to thank him for his service, trying to get me free tickets and other stuff.. also apologizing for my mother and wishing him luck because we talked about being in the same boat in life and career..
I ask my mom a couple times for the number and she says okay but never does it.. I feel she’s playing a game so I try to look him up and I see a pic that looks like him and he looks like he’s possibly engaged and the number on the wedding site looked similar to the number he wrote down.. so I just texted it.. said thanks and good luck and apologized ! Nothing flirty etc..
She tells she isn’t giving me the number because I have an attitude and she doesn’t want me bothering him as if 8 and not 28! It frustrated me and that’s what made me just want to see for myself.
I had an intense situation with a guy I talked to in the past that left me depressed and anxious… so it was nice to have a friend or find someone else attractive without thinking about it..
It just really upset me and I said f it… I wouldn’t “bother” a man I don’t know.. I didn’t even ask for his number!
All I hear is “you’re crazy “ “I don’t trust you”
“Something’s wrong with you”
👉 “You’re too much”

Holy shit, you're 25-29 and mommy is asking a guy for his number on your behalf and then using it to torment her own daughter. There are endless levels of "fucked up" in this. Tell mom to get her own life and stay the fuck out of your conversations and your life. Stop hanging out in public with mommy. Seriously, you need to establish some boundaries for mom and start enforcing them. Now!
I never asked or wanted his number. I don’t think to ask a guy for his number unless he wants mine.
It’s very hard to set boundaries because she doesn’t respect them… my mom was in town and I really didn’t even want to see her.. we spent one day together.
So you make her respect them. She got that guy's number just so she could do this to you. Mom is an asshole. Do you really need an asshole in your life? Your life. Your terms. She steps out of line, you call her out. First time, every time. Go ahead make a scene. Embarrass the crap out of her in public. She's betting you won't. She's betting you never will. If she doesn't stop, go no contact. Phone, email, social media. Just cut her off. Educate her. Actions have consequences.
She will just call me crazy.. it will only make things worse. I live far away from her. Breaking no contact was my biggest mistake
It's quite unusual that she asked for his number and then kept it from you. That's messed up.
