I say it depends on a lot of factors. For me it would be weird in my mid twenties if I were still at home.
Right now I go to school and live at home in the summer because we live in a touristy summer area where work is easy to come by. That allows me to save up money for the rest of the year.
Once I graduate then I expect to live alone. It won't be pretty considering what teachers make in this state, but it is my passion to want to teach.
Depends on your culture.
Here in India you can get a job at 18 if its available and you are smart enough, but if you move out its considered "abandoning your folks at the time of need". Women are expected to get married and take care of her husband, kids, and in laws of course.
In the USA i suppose 21+ is considered the age of humiliation if you still haven't flown out of your nest.
It differs country to country , I was very happy having my girls at home post 27 years , Australia is not like USA accommodation is both hard to get and extremely expensive, I didn't want them wasting money in this way.
