Is it normal that I miss living with my parents?

It took longer for me to move out from my parents house than usual.. all the time I felt like I need to stand by myself and be able to finance myself. Now I am out of the house, financing myself but I kinda miss living with them.. is this normal?

Regardless of your age or being an adult, it is normal to miss living with your parents. I think it is also the familiarity, the memories, and sometimes even the little things like your mom's cooking or just having someone around to chat with about your day.

Life can get pretty overwhelming with responsibilities, and the adulting world isn't always as exciting as it's supposed to be. So, missing support and security is understandable. Also, it shows that you are in good terms with them. People who didn't have a nice childhood don't feel this way. So this is a beautiful thing.

I currently live with my mom… my dad passed away a few years ago so it was a big loss for her and in income for the household… and now with times having been as weird and tough as they are, it’s like I can be there, pay rent (a lot cheaper than anywhere else), and it helps her, and she helps me… it’s a win-win.

If the money coming in (despite best efforts) isn’t keeping up with the cost of everything going up… it’s like why even bother getting my own place? Makes no sense…

And is it ideal? No… it’s not the life I wanted to be living in my 30’s, but when the timing is right to get back to the life I want to live, I’ll be in a much better position.

First, In 2024 it is normal to leave your house this late unless you live in the few places in the US (if you're American but also in other places) that have affordable housing. Two, if you had a loving relationship with your parents, you're allowed to feel this way especially. That said it is normal to feel how you feel. It is not normal to be told you're abnormal for being human and having an emotional response like this.

ofc it’s normal. You miss being with them. Especially if you have a good relationship with them. But the more independent you become you’re also showing your parents they raised you right. By standing on your own feet. But keep them always close to your heart, call them everyday

Whatever " Normal " is , yes of course it is , this all formed a massive part of your life , its quite standard that if you can from a loving home that you would miss your parents , its your home , your safety zone , it means home was positive too , that's a great thing.

I'd say it's normal yes. Especially if you're not used to being by yourself. Just remember that you can always call your parents or ask if they'd like to come over or go out to dinner sometimes. It's never bad to want to see your parents.

Yes, especially if you have a good one. You must have so many good memories with them. This is not my case lol. I am the happiest when I moved out.

I would think that's fairly normal. Living at home makes life easier in many regards. Plus, it's very common for people to live at home into their 30s in other cultures.

Yeah it is normal to miss it but I enjoy the freedom of not living with my mother since she still treats me like a teenager.

Of course it is normal... when I moved out after graduating from College, I missed the daily things with my mother and father.
