Should I honor my friend’s birthday wish for cheap wine or buy her a nicer bottle?

I know she’d enjoy a really beautiful bottle of Shiraz and I remember an exceptional brand that I once enjoyed from before I became an alcoholic. It has a lovely, sweet, but rich, fruity flavour. On the one hand, I’d save money buying something good but cheaper and I don’t have much money. On the other hand, my friend’s life is pretty grim. Both her parents are dead, she’s not close to her brother and she lives alone with her aunt in government housing, with no money.

I wouldn’t buy anybody alcohol for a present that’s not good for them. That’s the last thing I would get and it would make me feel guilty
