Why do my cousins always exclude me from family gatherings?

My grandmother on my mother’s side was one of eighteen kids. My mother has always kept in touch with her cousins. We met up with the cousins for my great aunt’s 96th birthday. Now I’ve met many of times and it’s always the same reaction. The old hey how are you then that’s it. No one interacts with even when I try to be social. Same thing with my female cousins on my father’s side. They all talk and keep in touch but can’t be bothered to include me. Most of my cousins are women. The only reason I think it might be is because I’m a guy. I don’t know. I try to keep in contact with all my family but I’ve just given up.
