I went to the store in Jan. and bought 8 bags of groceries. I get at least half way up the hill here and took a break. A minute later, someone driving stopped beside me and offered a ride the last 2 blocks.
As we sat in my driveway, I checked my phone and he took it from me and gave me his phone number to call him anytime I needed help. He also mentioned that he plays bass and, as I'm a drummer, maybe we can do some kind of music together. Turns out, he lives about 5 doors down from me. He's married and just had his 5th kid a couple months ago.
I never asked him for favours more than once or twice a month and the rides were never more than 2 miles from here, mostly only if he was going there, anyway.
I only asked him for help 4 times and at least once, he said he couldn't because of a hip operation. During a few of our trips, he offered to help me with several things without my asking.
Sounds like I have a new burgeoning best friend!! Just when I needed one!! 2 weeks ago, I asked if he could take me to the food bank, a mile from here, and I only go once a month. That week, he couldn't so, I asked if he could take me the next week (they have it 3 weeks per month). He said he would. I texted him the day before to make sure he could still take me. He said he could. The next day, I sat on the porch to wait for him shortly before he was due. He never showed up! I texted him to let him know I was ready anytime he was but there's no big rush. I got no response. I waited half an hour and texted again. Still no response so, I thought one of his kids might be hogging up his phone and he didn't know I was texting him. It's happened before. I go to his house, ring the doorbell and hear some guy inside yelling, "get the fuck out of here!!" I have no idea if that was him inside or if I heard one of his neighbours yelling in their house. I waited a moment and never got an answer at the door so, I assumed it was him. As soon as I left for home, I got 2 texts saying he can't take me
When I got home, I texted him, "all you had to do was tell me you couldn't take me and I might've been able to make other arrangements."
He's always been calm, helpful, friendly and quiet towards me, I mean, when we talk in his car, I have trouble hearing him. And, the last time he took me to the store a week before, he said his

That's a mystery. Perhaps, if you've not seen any of them, have police do a welfare check. I think that's what it's called.
He sometimes rides by on an electric bike.
You've seen him but no one else?
Call the cops, he snapped and the rest of the family are in the basement
Thanks for the advice. I don't know that he's that bad. His wife seemed perfectly calm in the pool that day. I would think that, if things were that bad, she would've been jittery or at least trying to signal me for help.
Read the last of it first. I had to greatly shorten what I wanted to say and even that wasn't short enough for GAG.
Now, to finish what I was saying.
on in the house! Like, if it was something like someone was in dire need of medical help, wouldn't there have been a LOT more noise coming from the house and ambulances and cops showing up? They'd almost HAVE to go past my house to get to his or at least be VERY obvious that they were near or coming!! I called them a few weeks before because I suspected a neighbour might be dead inside since his grass was 3' tall and at least 6 of them showed up in a few minutes from all directions!!
People are psycho
At least some are.
