What is the story behind your first name?

Who named you? What inspired your parents to give you that name?

I am named after my father.

My father is allegedly named after a friend of my grandfather's who I believe grew up near my grandfather. That friend was a brigadier general who is buried at West Point (the United States Military Academy in West Point NY). He has a common Italian first name which I now bear even though I am not of Italian descent at all. He, my father, and I all have the same first and middle names.

HOWEVER...
My grandfather was my grandmother's second husband... She was widowed at a young age and my grandparents got married because she was pregnant with my uncle giving birth 5 months after the wedding 96 years ago. My grandparents are buried adjacent to the grave of her previous husband and his relatives. One of his relatives seems to have been his little brother - so would have been my grandmother's brother-in-law. That brother-in-law has the same first name and middle initial as my father and me. So, for all I know, my grandmother went along with my father's name because it was also the name of that brother-in-law. By the way, my father's and my middle name is also the first name of her first husband.

I was incorrect about 1 thing...
The brother-in-law had a different middle initial than my father and me, but we all have the same first name.
Also, BOTH of my grandmother's husbands are buried in the same grave plot as are my grandfather's parents. The first husband's 4 relatives (including his brother) are in the adjacent grave plot.

My grandfather was friends with a man who would become the first prime minister of our country.
That man was visiting when my grandfather was born so they gave him his name.


And I was named after my own grandfather.

my great-grandma wanted us to have biblical names and so it was mine Jonathan...

but I do have a second name, which is Santiago... one that does sound and works quite well in both English and Spanish, lol...

Some relatives come from France, although that's several generations ago. My mother wanted to give me the name Natalie or Natalia. My father liked Natasha better, so I guess they came to a consensus.

I have no idea why they named me with my birth name because they didn't even call me by that name. They called me by the first half of my name. Weird.🤷🏼‍♀️

It's not really an amusing story, I was named after my paternal grandma's stillborn child, my mom didn't like the idea, she wanted a different name for me. And I don't like my name either.

My mother named me and she perhaps subconsciously came up with it because of a soap opera character because it rhymes with that character's name.

It's a really unique first name I might add. My real first name which is why I think she came up with it through that character. Because the character's name was just as unique.
