There are no jobs by moms far city in the desert. Everyone here owns a house and rich except for my parents they are poor in a studio senior apt.
I have a current full time job that’s an hour away but my car is old no longer can handle the drive any more, and gas is $800 a month.
im on vacation at home broke & will have my coming paycheck of $1100 all to save finally.
but studios for rent and rooms in strangers houses looking for roommates are same price as a studio , $900 a month.
I can’t sleep in car as it’s hot outside, no where to pee , and I get in trouble for sleeping in car not allowed.
i have no family no friends no boyfriend.
I start school full time January so when I graduate by 31 I’ll make $10k a month & but my house.
but for now where can I live? It’ll take the whole month sep to finally have the first month rent & deposit so til October but where can I live?

I don’t think this really matters, Sugar. You already have said your parents won’t let you move out while single, plus you’ve put money back into your old broken car on top of a new one, which I don’t think was a wise financial decision for someone trying to save.
Well I don’t have the used newer car anymore , I so that $400 I can have as extra money to save. By end of the month I will have a whole free check to save finally.
Yes I can move out they cannot put gun to my head. I will move out sometime mid end sep
Well, I’m only saying you can’t move out because last time I suggested it you were adamant about your parents forbidding you to move out until you’re married. That was only a couple months ago so I don't know what changed. If you’re going to go against them finally then that’s great but realistically you need more than 2 months to save. Personally I would just wait until I graduate and then can work more hours and make more money. I think right now would be too difficult. Not trying to discourage you because I completely understand you’re more than ready to move and you’re tired of your parents, tired of that long commute home and all that. But you have to be practical. It would really hurt your feelings to finally move out only to move back home because you weren’t financially ready for life on your own.
You’re not even giving yourself a full 2 months, mid September is like a month away.
I will move out cuz I won’t get married guys don’t love me. So my husband don’t exist.
I cannot wait 2 years. U might have rich parents that own a home I don’t. They live in a studio senior apt. My parents fight daily it’s daily fighting domestic violence, no ac , and my mom’s. Hoarder so u can’t walk in the studio house there’s crap all over the floor every corner u can’t walk. Might as well rent my own room by work and not come back. I can’t study focus on school like this next 2 years.
I make $2k a month. I can easily with one check pay a cheap studio room $850 a month and second check free to save and use it to go out on day off.
I’m on vacation 2 wks, these 2 wks I already will have a while check to save by end August. So that’s a month and half I’m giving mylsef to save and move out
No Sugar, I’m not rich at all. Never been rich or had anything handed to me, I saved and worked hard like almost any other adult I know. You don’t have to wait 2 years but you need more than 2 months that’s for sure. Give yourself the best head start rather than rushing things along because you’ve grown impatient. I also lived in a studio apartment with my mom so I get how frustrating it is not to have your own space, I also grew up with a grandparent who has been hoarding since the 90s, so I get that too. I’m not saying anything naively and not suggesting anything to you that I wouldn’t do myself. If you are willing to rent a room, you should totally do that for 2 years, then get your own place when you graduate. That makes the most sense. Living alone is so expensive for a student.
Where do you live that a studio under 1k is actually in a safe, clean, uncrowded area?
When I graduate I’ll make 10k a month so I will buy my home in 2 years but for now need rent a studio room by work in October so month and half.
Also, do you pay anything to your parents? Would they allow you to use your entire check for that and wouldn’t ask for any sort of payment? If so then they must be better parents than you claim because I paid some sort of rent while living in the studio with my parent.
Yes, rent a room with a roommate, get a home in 2 years. I think that is a good plan.
Here a tiny studio is $850-$1k. They have many by the cities by my job. I’ve lived. In decent areas I even once rented a big studio room wen I was 24 , these bath was shared , and fridge in hallway and I had my own balcony , it was a rich city house 5 bedroom rich home. The lady lived alone as all her 5 sons moved out with gfs. She rented 3 studios there
I have interview in 2 days as a server at Olive Garden part time. If I get good tips weekly, I can make $800 a wk in just 4-5 hr shifts 3-4 days a wk.
And at my current warehouse job I only make $500 a wk. very low pay.
I can’t get a roommate. People that want roommates charge a room same price as living alone in your own studio.
Without divulging too much information, I run my own tip-based business, have been doing it since 2020. I work full time and control my schedule. From this experience, I will say that you cannot count on $800 a week in tips alone, this amount is unreliable and you NEED that stability when you’re going to be counting on it every week. On a GOOD week I make about $300-$500 in tips. I’m based in a predominantly rich area, so you’d think they’d tip the best but surprisingly they are usually the cheapest, most frugal ones. Just giving you a heads up about that.
The situation in your old place sounds like it was the most ideal, why did you move? Are these spaces no longer available?
Also to be clear — I’m not saying 800 a week is impossible or not a thing, you can absolutely make that much in a week, I certainly have! I’ve made 1k! But this is over the course of like 6 years, and it is not a weekly occurrence, sometimes it doesn’t even happen for the month. I’m just saying you can’t expect that for sure every week, and you’re counting on that much.
Omg u didn’t understand. I didn’t say $800 in tips. I said my weekly salary plus tips will be $800 a wk. my salary as waiter part time would be $500 a wk, if I get tips daily I would make almost $700-800 a wk.
A restraunt is not a business. That restraunt is a very busy popular one
I moved out of that studio when I was 24 cuz the owner was a bitch to me. She only treated men tentabts nice but not to me. I paid my rent on time , quiet, neevr cause her issues.
She would spy on me and gossip of me all day.
Then cry be upset I was moving out as she wouldn’t have my money anymore.
A restaurant IS A BUSINESS SUGAR. And public establishment is a business. My job is tip-based, and the job you want is tip-based, that is what I’m saying and that is why I am warning you. You’re saying I don’t understand, but this is copy and paste what you wrote:
“If I get good tips weekly, I can make $800 a wk”
YOU wrote that, so what am I misunderstanding?
I thought you meant $800 alone in just tips. I didn’t mean that.
Yes rich people are frugal
You should’ve just stayed there tbh. Bitch or not, it’s rare to find a good living situation like that, I would’ve just ignored her paid my rent and live my life. In any case, it would be most ideal finding something like that again. If you can’t make at least 2500 a month at Olive Garden then yeah, I think that could work for living alone. But you need to be sure you have all the math figure out sugar, because going against your parents like this they may not allow you to move back home if this doesn’t work.
**if you CAN make 2500 a month
Yea but it got to the point she would complain daily of anything. I would clean the bathroom , and she would complain, daily I would get a call or text of bad news from
Her
But yes I now miss that place, it had huge balcony.
I ended up renting another studio with my own bathroom 10 min by my job. But again I moved after 2 years
I make $2500 a month with my full time warehouse job
Ultimately, I just encourage you to do what makes the most sense and what sets you up for the best chance. At your warehouse job, you for sure can count on 2500 a month. At Olive Garden, you can for sure count on what your base pay would be, and anything on top of that would fluctuate depending on the tips you make. It’s a gamble, and one that I’m not sure if you should take when you’re trying to factor in all your finances for living on your own. I’m not trying to discourage you whatsoever, I’ve just had several conversations with you over the course of like 2 years, so I’m aware of what’s transpired over time and I just don’t feel like you’ve had the best track record of making the best financial choices. Just make sure you really hammer this all out before you do it.
Also my vacay ends in few days, if I resume my full time job, I would again be spending $800 a month on gas to moms house. My car is old so it no longer can handle daily comutes.
In. 2 days I have Olive Garden part time server interview and it’s 20min from mom’s place.
The thing is Sugar, you already knew that old car was in bad shape. That is the reason you got a new car in the first place. But you talked yourself into believing it was more cost-efficient to keep the old car rather than having payments on your new one. Except you still pay a lot because of gas and potential repairs if that car breaks down because it can’t handle that long drive every day. That was not a good decision hun.
Then Olive Garden job is right by the place you are trying to stop driving to, so what happens when you get an apartment closer to school but still have to drive all the time back over by your moms for work, nearly an hour drive. That you wanted to stop doing, in this very old broken down car. Why would you do this?
No Olive Garden is 20 min away from mom’s house. It’s a different location.
I would need get studio by the Olive Garden job that’s 20min from mom. And just drive an hour down to the city in my fun day off
I thought you wanted to be done driving that old car such far distances? You’re already having a hard time saving and that’s with help from your parents (aka living with them and whatever else), so what happens when you remove that? You’re going to have rent 1k+ of rent, plus bills, plus $800 for gas, making HOPEFULLY $700 a week, like this sounds like a financial nightmare my dear.
Having fun would be the last thing on my mind I’d be saving every penny for the inevitable day that car officially breaks down and you’ve got to get another new one. If not break down it will have repairs those aren’t cheap. You should’ve kept the new car, it’s a shame you did not.
It already broke down and I got many things fixed. I now need save $4k for another car Dec.
No I meant if I rent a studio it would be 10min by my current job obviously. So I wudnt spend $700 on gas
Is your school near your mom’s? Are you trying to save 4k for a new car in December to get to school in January? That’s a lot Sugar, I won’t lie… like a lot. We are nearly in September that’s like 3 months away and you still haven’t even found a place to live…
Most of Africa, but there are-OH THE (IN) HUMANITY!!! black men there !!!
@canamlusciouslad73 🤦♂️
