I think right around Generation X, the technology boom changed the power dynamics between children and their parents. Every generation is slightly more technologically proficient than the last, to an extent. We didn’t have computers in my childhood home. However, if there was a power outage, i was the one who had to reset the clock on the VCR. My parents probably didn’t even know how. I would never know if they did because they just made that my job. See, kids, when i was young, children did as they were told. There was no talking back and there was no defying authority. Unless you wanted to end up with your picture on a milk carton. Ell oh ell!
Anyway, with technology evolving so rapidly, it has become fairly common for young people to teach their parents about CPU shortcuts, email, GPS, voice prompts, bluetooth and so on. So every generation of parents has had to accept the shift in power dynamics and learn from their kids, or be left somewhat in the dark.
With all of that said, have you ever had to teach your parents something?
