Have you ever been embarrassed by your parents?

For how much I love my mother, sometimes her penchant for hystrionics and colorful language embarrasses me.

She means it in good humor, but when she says out loud that she "thought with her c*nt" when talking about why she liked my father in the early days or writing on Facebook that "I'm worse than a rabbit" because of my wife's pregnancies, I sink in a little.

I find it a bit jarring because she's a cultured and well-read person as well, but then she lets loose with the profanities which would make a seaman blush. At least she's aware about it and jokes, when I say a simple "damn" she jokes that she should wash my "f*cking mouth" with soap.

Oh my goodness, yes, by my mother. No matter how old I am, there are moments where she will tell me something I obviously know (and should know), and it's usually in front of other people. Just last week my husband and I had brunch with both sets of parents. When my mother-in-law mentioned something about grandchildren, my well-intentioned husband said we had decided to start trying to get me pregnant. That was a mistake. My mom chimed in that we needed to "make sure not to use condoms or it won't work." The conversation then went something like this:

Me: Yes, Mom, I know. You bought me books and sent me to school and we had that talk.

Mom: Well if you use condoms, the sperm won't be able to...

Me: Mom, please stop talking. I got it.

Mom: ... fertilize the egg and you won't get pregnant.

Me: Are you done yet?

My father-in-law was trying to suppress laughter. The couple at the next table were laughing their butts off.

Does frustrated count? Cause mostly I'm getting frustrated and little angry cause her German was never good and it's getting worse and she isn't the smartest person... so when talking around other people I sometimes get frustrated cause not everyone understands her and she doesn't understand that she is not being understood and to top that, she is also often over the top with her way of talking and making "jokes" and she is too painfully friendly

I'd say yes.
Although if I have to be honest, I too have problems with German - my wife comes from a Germanic minority in my country and she wants our children and me to learn the language.
I can understand and read German well, but I have troubles speaking and writing it.

It's difficult to learn as a second, third... language, you would have to speak it more often to get good or at least life here for a while

My mom got found out cheating on my Dad with multiple guys. Went around the school and I got a lot of bullying over it. She thought she did nothing wrong and that I should get over it and my new daddy. When we got old enough my brother and sisters moved in with our father.

My mother is a simple and uneducated woman. She sometimes says things that reflect an ignorant understanding of people and of our world. However, she is now 92 years old and most people don't pay much attention to her occasional awkwardness.

My father too used to slip up a bit on those things although admittedly he was quite young.

Yes, mainly my mum. I love her but she is so embarrassing sometimes. She tries speaking to mine and my younger sister’s peers, tries to act younger than she is (not in terms of the way she dresses or anything), is a huge gossip and likes to tell other people my age embarrassing stories about me to get them to ‘like her’ I guess? She also wants to hang around with me and my friends and gets really offended if I were to say no/suggest not.

Both sets of our folks are quite conservative. We used to live in the Midwest. We were taking a walk, and my father heard one of the rap artist Nelly's songs being blared from a car. He stopped what he was doing, and tried to reiterate what he heard at the top of his lungs. Blew my mind, and I was worried that we were going to get shot.

Yes, I was shopping in Zara with my mum and I was a teenager going through changes and stuff. I smelt abit like BO so she decided it was a good idea to lift my arms up in the entire shop and spray my pits

Being embarrassed by parents is a rite of passage to adulthood. Airing intrusive thoughts over social media isn't ok though. Have you talked to her about it? Its probably best you set boundaries now

As people get older, they don't give a crap about being "correct". My parents did it to me and I am the same with my daughter.
