How to deal with the one upper friend?

My best friend tends to be somewhat of a one upper and also when you get something new say a car or TV whatever he's quick to list any problems or dislikes for that item do know anyone like that? How did you deal with them.

Ughh I hate people like that! Several of my friends are like that. I just try to ignore it, but I know how hard it can be. Maybe get back at them by picking out the problems with something they have. Maybe that will make them stop. If not, stop hanging out with them. They just make you feel inadequate and aren't being a good friend.

Someone who is your real friend wouldn't care about what you have. Everyone is different and different people have different needs. A friend that is constantly commenting on how obsolete or inferior your phone, TV or laptops is, is too concerned with the wrong things to care about your friendship.

Simple; ignore it. Chances are he's just jealous. You can laugh at it and compare it to his, but honestly that's just stooping to his own level. Take it as flattery that he's jealous of what you have and let it go in one ear and out the other.
