Why does my female friend call her boyfriend "someone" to me?

Im close to a friend of mine and she knows that I like her too lol. However, she has this boyfriend of one year but anytime she refers to him, when she does which isn't often at all compared to how other women talk about their boyfriend, she refers to him as "someone". She came over yesterday and showed me a gift and said, someone bought this for me...I know that was him but why does she do this? I even told her a long time ago that she can call him by name in which she did but now she's doing this again. Why?

ok ill update something: Weve known each other for several months so she's been with this guy for like 4 months prior to her and I meeting. We notice that we share a lot of common traits and desires.Also I notice that she feels comfortable coming to apt by herself. Last time she brought food for me. She quick to give me gifts of things from her home that's her own possessions such as her ring, vid games, or favorite book etc. She calls me like every other day or wants to Skype. We usually get along

it could either be two things

one she knows you like her so she doesn't want to make you feel uncomfortable about bringing up her boyfriend around you. she might think that you'll get upset if she said "yeah my boyfriend bought me this:)" knowing that you like her she thinks you might get jealous or upset because she mentioned her boyfriend so to avoid that she just starts saying "someone" and never really brings him up around you so you won't get jealous.

she likes you too and she wants to seem like she's still somewhat available even though she's in a relationship so she never brings him up or mentions his name because she likes the fact that you like her and if she mentions him you'll think she's into her boyfriend and you'll stop hitting on her or likeing her. girls act like that when they don't likke to be committed in a relationship. they just never mention the guy they're with. they'll say stuff like "i'm gonna go hang out with a friend" to guys they're talking to instead of "i'm gonna go hang out with my bf"

It might be the second one because she sometimes flirts with me. And she calls me I never call her really. She brought food over yesterday because she knows I was short on it. So I'm guessing it could be the second choice. Do you think there is something wrong with the bf? Sometimes I think she doesn't want to hurt him and she's not into him but at the same time she cares about him too.

um yeah I was like that too with my "ex". he thought we were dating but I was too nice to break it to him that I didn't ever want to be his girlfriend. so whenever other guys I liked flirted with me I would never ever talk about my boyfriend with them because I wanted to get with them instead of my boyfriend. my boyfriend found out and said I cheated on him and broke up with me

yeah I think that may b the case with her too. See I notice that he's so lovey dubby with her all the time...almost like high school or something. I'm a little older and have tats lol so I guess I appear as the bad boy type to her because I have that outgoing and cocky attitude so to say. So I think, her being a home girl, wants someone to take her out and have fun...which attracts her to me.

Hmmm well...I know that personally, unless I was really like "BFF" with a guy before my boyfriend and I even knew each other/got together, I wouldn't really go over a male's house by myself, let alone bring him food and give him personal gifts like my favorite book or video games. These are all things that I do for my boyfriend. And I would feel weird/guilty doing these things with another guy...I also would never refer to my boyfriend as "someone", I see no reason not to call him by his name and especially in front of other guys I make it clear that I have a boyfriend and am not afraid to talk about him. You should ask her why she always refers to him as "someone" and also ask her, just out of curiosity, if her boyfriend doesn't mind her always hanging out with you/talking to you...My opinion is that she likes you! The second paragraph moonlightromance wrote is what I was thinking

Yeah that's what I'm figuring too.I asked her why and she said, o I refer to everyone like that. So after that she started talking about him but very little...not like most women do. But recently, she started the whole "someone" thing. Another thing is that she went ice skating and she said I'm going with my sis and "Calvin "to go skating. We should go sometime. Basically, she doesn't talk too much about him at all...only sometimes or once per convo

I can think of two possible reasons.

A) She cares for you as a friend and doesn't want to make you feel uncomfortable mentioning him to much or using his name.

Or

B) She likes you too but doesn't know what to do about it so talking about her boyfriend in front of you makes her uncomfortable.
