My friend's boyfriend is texting me?

I've only met him a couple times, but haven't seen him in a good six months and he's dating a pretty good friend of mine (we hangout every couple weeks.). Anyways, yesterday he made a group on Facebook asking for everybody's numbers. I thought it was a different guy, so I posted mine. Now tonight he's texting me, just casual conversation. We don't have any of the same friends or anything. Does anyone else find this weird?
