Are you in the friend zone if a girl calls you mate?

If a girl says alright mate etc to you does that mean you are in the friend zone and no chance to escape it?

In my case there was a girl that suddenly started calling me mate after she found out that I have a girlfriend. She even came to me and asked me to make sure and said that she had liked me but that it didn't matter anymore since I have someone else. So after that like I said she started calling me mate. I feel sorry towards her since she is like my best friend but I love my girlfriend and I can't think about anyone else but her. So I'm kind of glad too that she put me in the friend zone. (And just so you know I never gave her any hope or something)

In my experience, when things like that happen, I've been put in the friend zone. As to escaping it, I've never cared enough to try, so I can't say.

You just can't tell just by that. Usually girls don't call "mate" to someone they're liking, though there are exception. Maybe she have that habit! And habits die hard.

I do it sometimes with my crush.. BUT I really can't control it, otherwise I would avoid it, as most girls I believe.

But don't hang on that only particular sign to guess if she friendzoned you...

Not in my case. Don't use the term "mate" too often, but I sometimes call people "dude", haha

Though it's in a slightly sarcastic "What? No way!" kind of way, if that makes any sense...

And yes, I do it to guys I like as well. I can't help it!

It may be because she thinks of you as a friend or because it's simply a habit of hers, to call someone mate doesn't mean your permantely stuck in the friendzone

Nah, I only say that when I'm mucking around / having fun, it has no relation to the friend zone for me.
