Do women prefer a guy to be straightforward about his intentions 4 her or play it cool?

When a woman first meets a guy and she is into him does she prefer that he be straightforward about his intentions for her--that he likes her, wants to sleep with her, date her, etc. Or does she prefer that he is hard to figure out like an enigma and that he befriend her and gradually get to know her then move from friend to lover in a gradual way. The latter of course seems more likely to end a guy in the friend zone.

However I have known guys who have been both successful in being straightforward with his intentions with a girl from the get go and be successful and have also known guys to be successful by gradually getting to know a girl and going from friend to lover...so what is more preferred to a woman and how she prefers a guy to be with her or be seduced? And why?

I very much appreciate the honesty. I don't want to be lead on. I'm also a straightford and blunt person so I will tell a guy what I need to tell him too.

not all women are like me though so please do not generalized based on our answers.

I know for a fact some girls want to be lied too and told what ever they want to hear, but I'm at the point in my life where I know what I want and if you are not that, then I will move on, if I am not what you want I expect you to move on too. don't waste my time. I can be your friend and all but I have to make sure you know where I stand so that there are no misunderstandings

I think I'd prefer a straightforward guy that makes it clear what his intentions are, that way I wouldn't misjudge the meaning of some actions, and I would also not make the mistake of missing out on someone that might have probably liked me but was too unreadable for me to ever know (which by the way has happened to me and I regret because I wasn't sure he liked me but I think he did, but because I wasn't sure, I probably didn't respond the way he wanted me to and as a result, he ended up getting a girlfriend because he thought I wasn't interested in him -_-)

Straightforward about things, I don't like playing guessing games, but yeah we can't plan the future so its not like there's a guarantee for whatever he wants but its nice to know what he is looking for so we understand if/when things just don't look like they are going the way we want.

Girls deal with enough implicit hint-dropping stuff with the females in their life.

They want a man to be decisive and take some decision making (especially in these days where women have more rights and responsibilities)...off their hands.

They'd want you to be straightforward if they are attracted to u. If they're not the only path is the patient one. There is no denying this.

There's no point to playing games. It just wastes more of everyone's time. Always let the girl know what your real intentions are, but do it in a kind and respectful way. Like if you're only in it for sex, just say you want to fool around/have fun/have a good time with her, but aren't looking for a serious relationship at this point in time. That way you're still being honest, but not being a total douche about it.

I can't stand people who play games. Life is too short to be running around trying to figure out what he might have meant. I like men who are honest. I don't like to solve riddles when it comes to relationships. Even if a guy drops hints like bombs on a battle field, there's no telling whether he'd get laid, or dropped off in the friend zone. It's best to just be honest about his intentions.

You can be straight forward through your actions. If a guy plays the friend role, then I take it as he wants to be friends. I dislike guys who play the friend role then all of a sudden tell you they want more, that is misleading and dishonest. Don't pretend to be my friend because you have an agenda, that's sneaky and shady. If you like me, want to sleep with me or date me, then act like it. So we don't waste each others time

I personally prefer guys to be straightforward about what he wants. But it depends. If the guy only wants to sleep with me he'd better be straightforward about it. If he wants something more it's OK to take it easy and be friends first so you can get to know each other well/

I like him to be forward about his intentions (i.e. admitting that he likes me, and asking me out if that's what he wants) but not rush it from there. Like, if we get into a relationship, I don't want him to start being hasty and, I don't know, try to get me laid in a week.

although I can get so frustrated with guys playing it cool...because a lot of questions are left unanswered...i still prefer it rather than guys being straightforward. I have had cases like that and it's usually a turn-off. playing it cool makes the guy just that much more irresistible.

A little straightforward, but not overly. If it's too forward, then I might end up feeling he doesn't value the emotional side I guess. It's greedy, but I want both :P A guy who is my friend, and I feel that emotional connection with, but doesn't play it overly cool.

I don't think being distant is good, or acting like you aren't interested in whatever you want, but at the same time I do not advice telling a girl early on you want to sleep with her. Maybe make it a little more subtle :)

I like a guy who is honest so I would rather just have him be straight forward. I might not want to see him anymore after telling me something I don't want to hear, but I feel like I've wasted time with guys who were just trying to see if they could get something out of me, like have sex with them or fool around with them and nothing actually serious. The games just get old and frustrating. So I prefer a guy who actually wants to be with me, rather just just someone who wants to seduce me.
