Why won't my guy friend hang out with me?

A guy friend and I are pretty close. I had a major crush on him at one point. I told him about it and he told me he did not have feelings for me. Things were rocky for a bit, but have been normal for months. Last week we went to dinner and the place ended up being oddly datey. It was kind of weird, but I didn't think too much about it. However, we were suppose to go hiking this morning and he bailed once he found out our friends couldn't go. I asked him why he bailed and he told me going hiking was too datey... What is going on? Things have been normal up until now... I am so confused as to why things are just now starting to bother him.

There are two possibilities as I see it. First, he doesn't have feelings for you and therefore he's not into being in dates situations with you. Or it could be it might make him uncomfortable and he might concerned about his feelings for you. Having said that, knowing that he said he doesn't have feelings for you, the first is perhaps more likely.

Probably after the dinner you guys went out turned out to be oddly datey, he's going to be especially cautious for the next little while not to make it seem like he changed his mind and has mutual feelings for you. Give him some time and things should return to normal :)

Hmmmm maybe now there's a girl in his life whom he wants to date or considers a candidate as a future girlfriend so he feels it's inappropriate to be doing things like that with you.
Best way to know for sure is to just ask him.
