I would 'dump' someone like that like a hot potato when I found he/she was like that
If I enjoyed what we did together, and wanted to stay "friends" I would make SURE he paid his share of entertainment.
I would have a 'sit down' over a beer, and tell him I don't like his chincy ways and he had better shape up or we are "done" as friends.
