Is it uncommon for a younger sibling to be more of a leader than the older sibling?

My younger brother is more of the take charge type and when we were younger, I sometimes followed his lead. Sometimes I still do now.

This is very uncommon. The youngest with all the benefits from the Eldest, who has learned and listened, is special case. If he is not spoiled, takes that information, and uses the benefits of being last in the Line…he can do great things. Usually this child is spoiled. The youngest has more resources and chance than elder brothers usually. Take advantage and be Great !!

In my family the youngest ended up being the most pressured as last great hope. All the attention seemed to be focused on that individual.
The youngest one will eventually be the caretaker of the elders brothers after parents pass. Who was once the Baby of Family ends up being the last “Parent/Brother”.

Not uncommon. Very common in the Bible. More contemporary, John Fogerty was the younger brother in CCR. There are lots of examples.

Yes.

But my mom had only two living children survive pregnancy and childbrith and so it was only me (a girl) and my older brother by four years.

So there wasn't a lot of clash and competition too much thankfully, especially in terms of girl stuff and guy stuff.

I don't know whether my brother was bossy or empahsized his superiority due to his age, but in any case, I for the most part, never felt him exert his dominance on me like that. He pretty much did his own thing and so did I. We had separate friends and lives basically. Especially as we got older.
