Trending & News My uncle who is a leftist definitely created distance with my family (we are conservative) JUST because we voted for Trump.
Not because we ever personally insulted him. Not because we brought up political debates first. Not because we ever cut him off or ignored him because of his political beliefs (which is he is very open about). No he got deranged because and only because we voted for Trump.
He used to speak to my dad weekly before the 2016 election When Trump got elected he didn’t talk to him for 6 months.
Now I have to ask how often do conservatives treat Biden voters like this after the 2020 electiog? How often conservative go around acting deranged and yelling “Biden supporter!”. Biden is senility incarnate and has royally fucked up our economy with hyperinflation (which harms EVERYBODY)
But again who are the adults in the room? And don’t tell me about Jan 6th. That was the worst of the worst all concentrated in one place for an isolated incident. It was over in 3 hours and all the perpetrators (rightfully) had the book thrown at them. Liberals went apeshit and rioted for virtually Donald Trumps entire term.
Of course. I had a dear friend. He was a dentist. And every time went to see him I had to listen to some conspiracy theory about vaccines, the Clintons, etc. This dude actually tried to get me to take invercmetin or whatever horse tranquilizer crap was.
And here I am trying to help him. I was trying to rebuild his client database in Windows 10/2012.
And he was literally biting my head off because I kept telling him what my scientist friends were saying.
"Dude, you are fucking dentist. These folks are actual scientists".
Well, we were never going to see eye to eye. And it wasn't like he was paying me. So I said fuck it.
no its my family plus am 34 now not a kid i dont like the English iam a scotland lover but people in my family are all scotland lovers but if a stranger was up for being a English lover nd tried to argue with me about it a would give it back am no a English voter i vote scotland freedom and hope and live free without the English now wallace but if i had a lover that was a English lover i would feel like i was going against ma country after what the fuckers done to our world years ago but if they started any shit about it a would tell him to fk off if they where calm it could be ok but am a scotland girl fuck the English
I didn't cut my friend out exactly, just distanced myself. But that was happening anyway, as she's been in deep depression for over five years and my mental health was really suffering whenever I was around her/trying to help her. We still talk every few months, and I'm sad that our friendship, which was the best one I'd ever had in my childhood, is slipping away. But I also know I need to take care and surround myself with people who aid that.

Of course it's best to cut people out like that, and I find it funny when people say they wouldn't or shouldn't but then always end it with unless they are a nazi or something selling themselves some bullshit on that one just you always should if you feel like it.
People like that need to admit to themselves it's okay to cut people out of your lives if you feel like it. It's your life don't stay around people who make you uncomfortable if you don't want to even if they aren't extremists.
Myself though ironically is often comfortable with views I don't agree with just they aren't when I call them out on it. Like my Grandma she's racist but if I call that she'll get very upset meanwhile I don't really give a shit I'm just saying how it is.
I don't know that I have but, others have done so to me.
One girl I've known since the 80's, she was the bass player in my band before I joined. About 5 years ago, she found out who I supported and stopped talking to me because of that! In the meantime, look at the shithole the country's become because of the guy SHE supported!! If EITHER of us should've quit the other `tis I that should've stopped talking to HER!! So many of my friends, and even a few relatives, have supported this guy and still do but, I still talk to them!
Yes, I have cut ties with few friends for political differences, cheating, scamming, insulting and jealousy. I don't feel comfortable to continue my relationship with them. I don't create relationships based on political or religion or money or educational or looks. I am a good guy and like good guys. I just want to see if he or she has good morals, good behavior and good life. That's it !!!
Some friends threatened me for political differences. Bastards!!! They are not my friends anymore.
If people do that I’m sure there are plenty of Free online consulting and therapies for metal illness.. maybe they can check that out first before cutting people.
Just my opinion since we are living in Biden democracy times - oops I talked about politics too. Don’t block me OP🥺
One of my best friends in high school was a hardcore conservative while I was a hardcore liberal (now I don't ascribe to politics and focus on being a Utiltarian Consequentalist, to guide all my decisions).
Utilitarianism states happiness is the only universal good and all acts should be aimed at maximizing the quality and quantity of happiness.
Consequentialism is the ends always justify the means.
So as long as I always increase the quality and quantity of happiness it doesn't matter how I do so. It is moral as long as it increases happiness.
Heaven is full of good works; Hell is full of good means.
Absolutely not. Politics is not a criteria for friendship unless it is the foundation of who we are or extreme to a point it violates our bottom lines.
I don't really care if a friend of mine lean left, right, much or little. If we differ we can exchange opinions and I earn a natural devil's advocate to help evaluate the merit of my own views. Something I would view as a merit rather than demerit.
Only once. The issue was not her being liberal. The issue was that she insisted I was evil for leaning conservative and accused me of being closed-minded and straight up called me her enemy. This was not the case at all. Yes, most of my views are conservative, but not all. Also, I will call out radicals on both sides, not just one or the other.
Granted, conservatives aren't without their flaws or problems themselves, but the left seems to be the absolute worst offenders of being ridiculously dogmatic of their own views, not even the bible-thumpers are as dogmatic as they are.
I'm a conservative and I have lost friends because of it, but not the ones that matter to me the most. I will always believe in what's right no matter what. If that bring it up I'll tell them even if it offends them and they use antifa level of violence. I was a liberal once and I had to realized I was wrong it's just part of the process of learning the truth.
No, not even my brother who supported the alleged Satanist Pedophile Sir Edward Heath.

Sir Jimmy Sa-Vile with Sir Edward Heath: It's us they were laughing at.
My dad is a commited white supremacist who loves the nazis and everything far right. He puts nazi slogans on my kids birthday cards and tells them himmler is a hero. he's given the hitler salute to random black strangers and claims im a communist jew that needs to be gassed.
I feel i have good reason to eliminate him from my life.
Its one thing to have a different opinion. It's another thing to ignore evidence the side you pick is wrong.
But where I drew the line was when I got heckled by friends and family just because I did not agree with their view. Nobody needs toxic relationships in their life, even if they are from family.
Thankfully none of them are really liberals. Some hate men, and some want abortions even though they have more abortion rights now in their state... but at least all of them know Joe Biden is shit.
Yeah, my leftist and 420 friend and Neighbor for 16 years went our separate ways at 16-17. We worked himself out of the 420 when we caught up 23. He’s still got the disease that kills freedom and people.
I would have no problem in casting someone aside due to their political beliefs , if they are stupid with socialistic ideals , against free enterprise then I don't want to know them , association is everything , no room for fools.
I've never done that but people have done it to me. I'm the bigger person by listening to what they have to say and be civil in my responses. That's never good enough for these types of folks.
Nope, thankfully I haven't needed to. I have friends with very different political views than mine but we've managed to be civil and just agree to disagree (even though I'm right LOL)
nope. never have. never will
I've been cut off before but that's them showing their true colors
The funniest stories I've heard regarding such types of people who would cut one of their own family members out of their lives is when these people finally reach their lowest point and then suddenly come crawling back to those they disowned, then the disowned family members tells them they can fuck off and die broke for all of he cares.
It's not totally unreasonable to stop hanging out with someone who constantly lectures you on their political beliefs like they're some kind of prophet
If indeed I did cut out of my life some family members and acquaintances, it was never because of differences in political opinions or beliefs of any kind.
Yes only because they make it personal and unfortunately show that they have hate in their heart for people who disagree with them.
It's not something that happens in the UK as we consider that your politics are between you and the ballot box, and it is considered rude to interrogate friends/family about their political opinions.
Yes, my uncle is a neo Nazi - I've zero interest in having an indivual like that a part of my life, family or not.
Anyone that takes politics that seriously is probably a pain in the ass anyway.
I have cut off friends who didn't respect my religious or traditional views. They weren't ever best friends, though. And I am so much better without them.
Generally I don't but I constantly make fun of blt alphabet people so if they disagree then that's their problem.
Nope, and I wouldn't unless the person became an actual commie or a Nazi or turned out to be a racist.
No. I'm not petty like that. I actually believe that people are allowed to have opinions that differ from mine.
Accidentally hit yes. But no, I would not. We all think politics is a dumb subject. Useless subject
Yes, I cut my older sister because she's pro choice and had an abortion
No longer my sister.
No
Its never that deep
Unless they're nazis
If that person constantly brings up political conversation, YES.
Yes cousin because he supported unionism in NI,,,
Politics was never a topic of interest to me. From my point of view political specialists look and act like monkeys.
An entire family? Yes.
For political reasons? No
For other reason? Yes
That would be evil. Everyone sees their own opinion as valid.
Would never cut someone off for that unless they are completely unhinged about it.
I have a relative who disowner a step son for denying the holocaust
No, I cut them out for other reasons.
Not for political reasons
People did it because of COVID.
No lol
Nope
