In this second take, I am presenting a relative newcomer in modern fragrances and is quickly becoming a sexy mass appealing favorite. It is somewhat familar but undeniably mesmerizing, it is Dior Sauvage by the house of Christian Dior.

NOTES:
The notes are listed in order from top notes down to the base notes:
Bergamot,
Ambroxan,
Geranium,
Pepper,
Lavender,
Vetiver,
Patchouli
The notes here are actually pretty consistent throughout the entire length of this fragrance. It does start out with the bergamot and ambroxan, but those notes carry through. The dry down does bring out the soft lavender and patchouli notes to the fore, but bergamot and amboxan stick around to the very end.
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
As of this writing, Dior Sauvage commonly comes in three different sizes in retail stores:
2.0oz ~$74USD
3.4oz ~$92USD
6.8oz ~$145USD
This fragrance does not currently come in an Eau De Parfum as far as I am aware of; as such, this review will be of the current Eau De Toilet version. Grey market online stores like www.fragrancenet.com currently sell this for higher than retail! I expect the prices of this fragrance to come down over the next few years.
The scent was launched in 2015 and the fragrance was created by perfumer François Demachy. It is classified as an "Aromatic" fragrance.
The presentation is very reminiscent of other Dior fragrances; the flanker is cylndrical in shape and has a ribbed magnetic cap. The glass on the bottle has a slight fade from transparent, to a dark steely blue, to an opaque black. The sprayer is above average and puts on an even distribution of juice, which is to be expected from a fragrance in this price range.
SCENT/SITUATION
This scent is often described as being "alien" or "unnatural", however, it brings to mind the coolness and freshness of icy steel. It isn't offensive by any stretch of the word, in fact, it is very pleasant and is an attention grabber. One thing you may have noticed is that the notes are very limited, which is actually one of the strengths of this scent. It is a people pleaser in the same vein as a Bleu De Chanel, but it stands out - it is a bergamot and ambroxan bomb. Bergamot brings that blast of citrus and the ambroxan has like a neutral spirit smell with an ozone-like quality. Ambroxan is the chemical compound that gives ambergris, a grey waxy flammable substance found in sperm whales, its smell. Ambergris is used in many high-end niche colognes, most notably those from the house of Creed, like Aventus.
It smells citrusy fresh, clean, but also has this otherworldly quality that brings a sense of mystery. This scent is a bit polarizing in the fragrance community, as some consider the ambroxan to be overpowering and synthetic. However, this gets many compliments for the ladies and some men claim that if they could permanently and naturally smell like a fragrance, it would be this one.
This is like a "swiss army knife" of fragrance that can be used in almost every situation, very versatile, has mass appeal, and is a huge compliment getter. People will be drawn to you, even if it seems "generic". It is great for any season and any age group.
PERFORMANCE
Dior Sauvage is above average in longevity, about 10 hours. The projection is about average and will extend about 5 feet away from you for the first 2 or 3 hours, and then steadily decline from there. Some reviewers wish there was an "Intense" version, but this is perfect for a man who likes to be a bit more subtle while still smelling amazing.

THOUGHTS/REVIEW
If you don't have many fragrances in your collection, or if you are looking for a signature scent that is both clean and sexy, this could be the one. It is just going to get more popular as time goes on though, so be aware of that. The mass appeal is one of this fragrance's positive qualities as it will be very difficult to find a person who doesn't like the way this smells on you. Ladies apparently love this fragrance and being that it is so versatile, you can wear it on a date, wear it to the office, wear it casually with friends, and it will be pleasant.
I personally love this scent and think that no matter how many other men pick up on the awesomeness of this frag, it will still hold a place in my rotation.
The downsides are that it isn't the most unique scent, but it gets positive attention, so in that regard, it isn't very polarizing to the average person. The current price is also a downside as there are other frags that may fill this role in your collection for less money. That said, it does what it does extremely well; smells sexy and gets compliments.
I easily give this fragrance a 10 out of 10 rating. It is mass appealing but it does have an air of mystery, just that hint of uniqueness the ambroxan brings to the table that balances out the familiar citrusy aspect.
