Not ugly duck per say, more like down playing my looks to not come off conceited. there's this WEIRD issue with black girls assuming light skinned black girls think we are "all that." My dark skinned friends would be all insecure, my bf's boyfriends would still hit on me - so I just concealed it and dressed boyish. Still do.

People still flip out when I brush my brows and put vaseline on my lips lol, like "youre soooo pretty!"

I too wear glasses my love, and have been told it comes off very attractive by evoking intellectual stereotypes, professional and intimidating as well so men think you're a more challenging to chase.

My non blk boyfriend is brazilian and went through the ugly duck phase - so she says. She had a little chub and mid school and got picked on, then blossomed into this exotic Brazilian flower lol she was still way hotter than me in high school lol, but she still denies it. Golden hair? Tan skin? Green eyes? Accent? C cup? Size 8 and tall - come on lol?

I did! For years I had bangs and braces and no boobs, no boy would talk to me. Then suddenly the braces came off and my hair grew and my body developed and literally every guy hits on me now. And I'm so naive about it since I spent all those years before being ignored by them that I can never tell when a guy is being friendly or flirting...

I've always been below average in to the looks so I played high school sports and excelled beyond my wildest dreams. That got me girlfriends and when I was graduating, I had a job ready for me. My point being if a person like myself thinks they're going to struggle, set up something for the future to try and tip the scales in your favor.😊

I totally did lol. My appearance didn't really affect my interactions with people. I just got really shy for a while. My dad emailed me some old photos of myself going through puberty and my self-confidence took a hard hit lol.

yes, from around 12-16, but at 16 when I got my braces off, I became a total hunk! I had many girls to chose from senior year. High school was great, it feels like a lifetime ago
