Why would any girl wear a skirt/dress above the knee as opposed to below the knee?

Wearing a skirt/dress above the knee as opposed to below the knee just makes things SO MUCH HARDER. Even if it's from a hand below the knee to a hand above the knee, there's already a huge difference.

In skirts/dresses below the knee, you can almost move around just as much as if you were wearing pants or shorts. You can't really play serious sports, but you can still walk a little faster and run around a bit. You can also sit with your legs wide open like a guy and have no problem.

However, above the knee... it's a whole different story. Especially if it's a flowy skirt/dress, where the wind also comes into play. You can't really go any faster than traditional walking speed without threatening to flash your thighs, butt cheeks, and underwear. Also, you sure as hell can't sit with your legs wide open like a guy... you've got to sit either cross legged or normal but with your legs close together at absolutely all times.

Plus, I imagine it must feel quite awkward. When you wear a skirt/dress, things are already flowy, and you're not wearing any sort of pants to begin with... isn't that already relieving enough? I imagine making the length even shorter would make it a bit TOO relieving.

As a guy I imagine a skirt/dress is the equivalent of me just wearing a really long shirt and my underwear... if it's long, I don't ever have to worry about flashing my underwear or whatever. But if it's above the knee, I do! Where's the benefit?

Please explain, ladies.
