I personally don't have nothing against it, if it's your style just go with it.
I thing it only depends where you use it, like if you use it a work and your job requires formal clothing it would be kind of weird.
But other than that, you like it use it

I guess its connected to hip hop and people look down at hip hop and rap because its tied to the ghetto and hood as well. I remember some of my black friends wore durags and their parents did not like it because they assumed they were dealing with drugs.
I do this overnight with wet hair and other styling products to make my curls stand out. Anyone who says it's ugly or tells you to get rid of your hair entirely has no clue how curly or black hair works.
Because some people are ignorant and stupid. They just attach stereotypes to what they see instead of trying to educate themselves.

I like them, I think it just depends on the setting. There's a time and place for everything. I wouldn't wear my head wrap to a place I want to be taken seriously.
But to the store or something, I wouldn't care as much.Yeah, so I’m assuming it’s a lot of white folks saying that, or somebody with finer hair. They probably think it’s just a fashion accessory they attribute to hood culture, and don’t have any clue about getting waves or protecting cornrows (does anyone your age even wear those anymore?😂) and all that.
My brother wears his at night while he sleeps and on the weekend when he doesn't have to work. He works in a professional establishment that requires him to wear a suit and tie. He does this for hair care not because he's trying to look cool. He's gotta keep those wave fresh for the work week.
I think it has to do with how they are portrayed in media. Usually gangsters or lowlifes are shown to be wearing them. I bet most people don’t know what the purpose of them are. I would think they assume it’s just like a bandana. If it makes you happy and you like the style after wearing one, who cares. Maybe you’ll educate some folks by wearing it
Looks stupid. What function does it serve?
Shave your head and wear it to cover your head. I know old monks used to do it keep your head from turning into an oven.I didn’t know their purpose is for getting waves and to flatten your hair. I don’t mind them, you can wear whatever you want.
People think it’s not classy to wear outside the house. People assume it’s gangster or something.
It's basically like the bonnet male version.. 😂.. But, they probably just see it as "ghetto" which is why they look down on it..
Probably because it signifies street life. Criminality, violence, gang-culture, just lowlife standards overall. If you're trying to get a certain hairstyle then fine, but that particular headwear still has its history.
Bruh every other black dude in NYC wears a silky 😂
That shit was the hottest fashion trend in the hood a year ago
I seen Latino dudes and Asian guys wearing them too 😂I know this sounds racist😂 but if you're not black don't wear it, it won't suit you!
They have a bad rep. It looks too thug to work in most contexts and I honestly think that most people don't know that they're for waves.
A friend of mine won't wear one in public, says that it'd be like wearing pajamas to the grocery store.
Because it reminds me of thugs. I also look down on ripped jeans because it looks like homeless people.
isn't it part of black people's culture to wear durag
People judge and usually think they are thugs or drug users.
I just dont think they look good. Just a personal preference.
It's tacky outside of the house.
My cousins wear it.. couldn't care less.
Hairdo + rag = do-rag
