They always matter. Over time, they do fade but that doesn't mean that looks don't hold significance.

It's unfortunate that looks DO matter.
It makes me mad because people keep forgetting we can't help how our bodies look as we get older. Some people hit the genetic lottery, then there are people like me who were cursed by being ugly because we have shitty genes.
Because of that, a lot of us have body dysmorphia because fashion magazines and T. V. tell us who is beautiful and who isn't. Unfortunately, I would fall into the latter, all because I have no control of how my appearance would be when I grew older. If we had the power to, I'd look tons better than how I look now. Because of society and their high beauty standards, I have body dysmorphia, anxiety, and depression. I also self harmed from 2007-2020.
I have a quote: "Look beautiful, be treated beautifully. Look shitty, get treated like shit."
In school?
Two popular girls were walking towards the gym, the boy opened up the door for them and smiled. He sees me, gives me a mean look, and follows after them.
Boys were constantly asking me if I was a boy or a girl.
One boy sat in my seat unknowingly, then turned, immediately went "ugh", and sat by the pretty girls.
A couple feet behind me on the track, a boy and a girl were talking about girls he should date, and I heard my name.
"Would you date Angelique?"
"Oh hell no, she's ugly!"
Walked around the track with my head bowed and crying.
A boy skipped a seat beside me when my class had to sit together at a table.
A boy was coming out of the cafeteria and knocked my lunch tray out of my hands and didn't even apologize. Luckily I ate all my food, and so just picked up the lunch tray and my empty milk carton.
It's a harsh world for people like me, no matter how nice we are. Honestly, if everyone is focused on looks you might as well execute people like me.
Looks matter to some & as for me I’m going to have to be the sole voice of opposition on this one. I’ve dated some knockout girls & how it happened I still haven’t a clue. As for those knockout girls although they were hotties some of them had personalities that weren’t so good & lesson learned.

some people who look bad dont want to admit to themselves that they got the shitty end of life, especially dudes
I do agree looks matter but there are other things that matter as well. I do thinking having things like a good personality, good hygiene, good financial situation, good social skills and good mental health is important in relationships too.
Looks do matter. They simply don’t matter the most.
