Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 ybecause fashion designers don't think they need more.
People buy what is put out in a store and what's put out in a store has been designed by some designer usually females and gay males..
so i suppose one can conclude that the majority of female and gay designer believe men don't need much of a variety.. and that's probably due to the fact that a greater percent of men do not enjoy going out shopping and choosing stuff.. they prefer simple fast and go...
Designers would probably be wasting their time and money on something that would not bring much profit. That's not to say some men do want more variety.. it's just common intelectual sense. you wouldn't go make a bunch of stuff you know won't sell if you're trying to make money.00 Reply

+1 yThat's mostly because men go for practicality over everything else.
And it depends on what you refer to as fashion for women. Last year I needed a new blouse shirt for an interview. I went to four "women's" shops looking for something that was simple & professional not cheap & trampy as was available (too low collar, to degree seethrough, etc.).00 Reply
Because if we spent as much money on clothes as women there wouldn't be a gender pay gap because we'd all be out shopping, somebody has to earn the money.
Joking, most men look for what fits well or well enough, is more functional and fitted to the purpose of their day.
Most bright colours and snazzy styles don't suit most men, those things are more then one-off items that only certain males will buy the cost then being way too high to justify.
Most men accept that styles and fashion is geared to women with men only being a cursory after thought.
A number of fashion designers have tried but men just aren't that interested compared to women.10 Reply
+1 yI dont know I've been told I have a excellent style but to be fair I dress like I'm going to a job interview everyday so that might be why but some days a tshirt blue Jean and a sweater is nice and others blue Jean's a flannel and a cowboy hat obviously depending on what your doing. Or just sweats and a tshirt or no shirt. You know.

+1 yI think:
1. Men where more practical clothing.
2. They don't buy clothes as often
3. Don't spend money on fashion
4. They actually have very strong features so a bland outfit balances them whereas it's opposite for women228 Reply- +1 y

- +1 y
@Boppy like all animals men have more striking features such as a beard, better height, bigger eyes etc etc to attract the female.
So it would over do it to over dress some one who has so much eye catching features. It might actually take away from their beauty. So it's better they wear simpler clothes so it's easier to notice their beauty more. - +1 y
Interesting, thanks.
I have heard the opposite for eyes, though. Women tend to have higher face contrast (light/dark) and bigger eyes.
Also, I'd argue that women have many eye-catching features for men as well. Perhaps women with more beautiful faces and long hair could dress plainly for a similar reason. - +1 y

No they're not doing it for men but that's just how they compete. It's actually easier for women to get laid compared to men and it's not because of how they dress but it's because they're infact a woman. Biological reason why is because we are programmed to spread our seeds on women not on their fashion. Wanna be the dress like the sexiest woman ever? Be naked. - +1 y
@Aiko_E_Lara clothes make a woman sexy.
- +1 y
Yet majority of us have sex naked. In fact, being nude is too sexy that people slut shame you for it.
Asker+1 yhm, some men also have some good style to feel confident and good about themselves (maybe to attract but not main reason/aim) same goes to women. Some shops have pretty good fashion for men.
- +1 y
@Aiko_E_Lara actually clothes make people look more attractive and sexual than they are. E. g. a red padded bra
Not only clothes but accessories like makeup and surgeries too. - +1 y
Well @ asker if you think men have good fashion then your entire question is not needed and all our answers are wrong. So we'll stop the debate here then on that note.
- +1 y
Attractive doesn't mean we wanna mate with them. That's just supplement for societal standard not biological purpose so technically, you're not doing it for men but for everyone else. When no men really cares about what you wear, you just do because of the choices you have.
- +1 y
I don't mean no men as in 100% of men don't but we generally don't
- +1 y
@Aiko_E_Lara well I usually only buy what looks good on me and fits the activity I need to do e. g. waterproof coat
Asker+1 yThis beats the whole purpose of the argument. people just wear what they want. I. e. you.
Trying to impress someone/attract a mate is just a fraction of the decision.- +1 y
Take this for example. If you're just overly obese and no matter how good you dress, you're always unattractive to us so yeah fashion is just to fit society that's all.
- +1 y
@Aiko_E_Lara not really because overly obese women were once the beauty standard in Russian Renaissance and beauty ideals change all the time.
- +1 y
There were times where being obese was attractive because that was the indicator of wealth since people had less access to food. While that's an indicator of wealth, that doesn't make you sexually attractive for men but now that's the indicator of poverty because all they can afford are the cheapest and unhealthiest food. And that doesn't only apply for women but for men too. You're just generalizing that men are muscular, bearded and strong. That's not all men in today's world. While you can say there were times obesity was attractive, no matter what time you're in, obesity is still objectively a bad thing. So yeah we go for a fertile women not women obese women who dress well.
- +1 y
That is unless we're just after your wealth why they go with women who are obese. AKA Male gold diggers that time.
- +1 y
@Aiko_E_Lara a fertile woman needs 20-24 percent or sometimes more body fat to maintain menstrual cycle thus concieve.
- +1 y
Because you're talking about "20-24 percent or sometimes more body fat" not obesity. Read again.
- +1 y
@Aiko_E_Lara well some men will think that is obese in their eyes. I have seen it time and time again men calling women with those percentages fat.
Heck every once a while certain men online say I am fat. You might not so do this but definitely there men out there that do this - +1 y
"I have seen it time and time again men calling women with those percentages fat." <-- you have seen it. We don't. Your experience is not equal to the average and also because you only look at men who call you fat. Here's a word for you, cherry picking
- +1 y
@Aiko_E_Lara so you have never seen a man look a woman fat who isn't fat? I guess you will one day.
- +1 y
Call*
- +1 y
Did I say I never seen a man call women fat? You can continues straw manning once more but I tell you being recreationally offended doesn't prove anything. While you're saying "I have seen it time and time again men calling women with those percentages fat." And have you haven't met all 3.5 billion men on this plannet
- +1 y
@Aiko_E_Lara ugh I am not going to reply further to this I think... The op is probably well annoyed for spamming her feed. You are welcome to debate in private.
- +1 y
Actually no. I'm not embarrassed by anything here. Wanna hide proving me wrong?

+1 yBecause we were suppose to look like we serve not to play dress up and it had been evolutionary. True there were times men dress up a lot like the 1700s but also that is when the army is at it's weakest.
121 Reply- +1 y
Men like most animals are more attractive than women and have stronger features that stand out like big eyes muscles and beards...
- +1 y
Thus they don't need to further stand out
- +1 y
@Warmapplecrumble Attractiveness is actually subjective. Ofcourse I can also mention women have curves and big tits that attracts us so clothes aren't that important. They're just supplements and a sociatal standards because we're living in a modern world.
- +1 y
Men like all animals stand out more. Women are more simpler. In fact the fashion women do it makes them look more and more like men. That is entirely another topic on its own.
- +1 y
@Warmapplecrumble You can give birth and repopulate while we can't. So we have to be "powerful" to prove how worthy we are because if we don't, we're just replaceable which is also why men are the ones who makes it at the bottom. It's easier to repopulate the world with 1 out of 100 women than vice versa that's why women are more safe guarded and more reserved for survival. That biological instinct still applies to us since we're humans no matter how much we change and we still have our greatest ancestor's DNA. The grass is always greener on the other side so check your privilege first.
- +1 y
I don't mean no men as in 100% of men don't but we generally don't
- +1 y
Well men do need to realise without women birthing their DNA the human population will cease to exist. That is the truth of life.
Asker+1 y@Warmapplecrumble Humans would have not exist without help of BOTH, MALE and FEMALES, biologically, making it happen. Unless crossbreeding but we don't go there.
- +1 y
@Warmapplecrumble Im not saying you can give birth without men but I'm saying "It's easier to repopulate the world with 1 out of 100 women than vice versa" Read again before strawmanning
- +1 y
I never said make sperm was not needed. But a fertile female is very important to the human species without this our civilisation will cease to exist.
Morden medicine and media has caused us to disrespect women and not respect motherhood.
Once it was respected to be a mother and survive in order to raise the children. - +1 y
Male*
- +1 y
@Warmapplecrumble Oh "disrespect women" When you're talking about how strong and masculine men should be. Kinda like the double standards you're trying to prove here.
- +1 y
Well men should be respected and so should women. Nothing wrong with respecting motherhood and masculinity. I don't see any contradictions.
- +1 y
Again no one actually stopping you from wearing what you want but it's no body's fault if you're just insecure and care about what people say. It's not like it's against the law to wear something simple like men. You can wear shirts and jeans but it's harder for us to wear skirts like you do.
- +1 y
@Warmapplecrumble Here's something for you. And I love how this movement gets wrecked. Bikinis are attractive right? We don't care. They're just fat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjE2p1xmrNA&t=325s
- +1 y
It's hard for women to wear shirts.
I can't wear jeans because the waist is always too big and the bum area is too small.
And men did wear skirts... Kilts I guess is the proper term. - +1 y
Not all of them are but all of them are pushing that BS
- +1 y
@Warmapplecrumble And why are markets even selling shirts for women? In a general women's apparel, you basically have everything from jeans to hoodies. Now tell me where you see skirts in men's apparels?
- +1 y
To be honest I think people shouldn't shame anyone for anything and people should wear whatever they want.
However, all people should have a choice in rejecting someone they don't find attractive etc etc.
So that's my opinion on that. - +1 y
@Warmapplecrumble And we don't. It's just you shaming yourself for wearing shirt and jeans. https://www. google. com/search? q=shirt+and+jeans+women&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwj8q-jEtdjnAhUL15QKHW7TDhYQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=shirt+and+jeans+women&gs_l=img.3..0i67l2j0i5i30l8.250.932..1101...0.0..0.127.640.1j5...0...1.. gws-wiz-img...0j0i30. sY-nk23MvgQ&ei=VXBKXrytNIuu0wTupruwAQ&bih=817&biw=1280&hl=en It's actually suits them so it's not our fault it doesn't suit you.
- +1 y
If you wanna wear then go ahead. However we don't think skirts suits us so do we care about that not being in men's apparel?
You know I have always wondered that. Men's clothes are so boring! Sorry I can't answer your question I just wanted to say that.

10 ReplyThey have choices but it’s nuanced.
women are supposed to look pretty
men are supposed to look powerful. So they operate in a smaller band of clothing options00 ReplyI think because we're not the target audience/consumers so it's not profitable enough.

+1 yBecause most of our fashion comes from military and practical use. There are very few men's garments that can't be traced very directly back to some war or conflict.
